I hope this is successful and there is a positive end to this story which might lead to justice for Suzy and her family at last.
The Suzy Lamplugh Trust is an excellent organisation.

I hadn't realised that both her parents had died. It's utterly tragic that they never knew what had happened to her.

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 30/10/2018 11:41

No me neither, her dad so recently (June this year).

I was only 8 when Suzy went missing, but my dad always used her story as an example to me when growing up, to always let them know where I am. It's so easy to forget and take things for granted - I'm often working alone, in remote places and meeting men on their own (doesn't sound at all great when I put it down on paper!) and really take my safety for granted many times.
Suzy's story really speaks to me.

So sad. I really hope this is the one this time. Other than a local murder, Suzy's disappearance was the first VAW case I really remember standing out and making me worried about going places alone - was there CCTV or lots of reconstruction on Crimewatch or something? I would have been early teens...I have vague memories of grainy black and white images of her walking alone. I've never forgotten her name in all that time.

scepticalwoman · 30/10/2018 11:48

Her parents were fine human beings - turning their tragedy into doing something good for women.
Such a tragic story.

Iused2BanOptimist · 30/10/2018 12:36

I walked past the house she was showing to Mr Kipper at the exact time of the viewing on my way to lunch. My boss at the time suggested I go watch the reconstruction when they did it. But I hadn't seen anything.
I always feel sad and get a shiver in my spine when I think of her though. I hope she can be found and laid to rest and at least her siblings have some resolution.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 30/10/2018 12:54

I hope some resolution can be found for her family. Awful case. So sad that her parents never knew what really happened to her.

PlantsArePeopleToo · 30/10/2018 14:33

Oh I hope they find her so her siblings can finally have some closure.

SirVixofVixHall · 30/10/2018 17:44

I didn’t realise her parents had died either. Her family were incredible, the way they channeled their grief into helping other women stay safe.
I really hope they find Suzy and she can be buried with her parents at last.

HamiltonCork · 30/10/2018 17:55

Hope they find her. It must be unbearable for her family.

HelenaDove · 30/10/2018 18:57

I was 13 when Suzy Lamplugh went missing.

Back in 2006 i rang the Suzy Lamplugh Trust for advice when a lad i had been at school with turned up in our town centre after years away inside and started calling out my name so i would turn around and then he would pretend to just be going about his business, i rang the trust who kindly sent me a rape alarm ( i was worried i may be overreacting but they pointed out his behaviour was unpredictable. ) They were so kind and helpful.

I am so sad and sorry to hear her parents are no longer with us. I hope Suzy is found and that the rest of the family can find peace Thanks Thanks

I’ve spent more than 10 years as an Estate Agent and I always used the guidance from the Suzy Lamplugh Trust as part of training for new starters. I’m very sorry to hear her parents have now died, they must have been desperate all these years that she would be found and they could lay her to rest. I hope this does turn out to be her, she deserves more than being forgotten under someone’s garden - everyone does.

KatherinaMinola · 30/10/2018 20:43

I didn't know her dad had died. I was a teenager when she went missing and I remember the case very well. I've often thought of her.

When I started my first job we had materials from the Suzy Lamplugh Trust too (some lone working involved).

sashh · 31/10/2018 04:57

For anyone not familiar with the case,

ITV documentary a few years old, explaining the case and why the police believe John Cannan is her killer.

Urbanbeetler · 31/10/2018 07:37

It makes me wish I believed in an afterlife, where Susie and her parents could be reunited.

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 12/11/2018 16:53

No further evidence discovered say Scotland Yard.

Hopefully one day Suzy will get justice.
