Highlights the rank hypocrisy of Maria Millar, quite happy to throw women and girls under the bus if a man says he's a woman whilst commenting on women and girls being harassed by men.

ijustwannadance · 23/10/2018 07:39

"The government has made protecting women and girls from all forms of violence, and supporting victims and survivors a key priority"

Only if they have a penis.

BeerAndBassGuitars · 23/10/2018 07:42

One might have thought that keeping men out of women's toilets and changing rooms might have been a very easy place to start...

Juells · 23/10/2018 07:44

That was my thought as well when I read the article - happy to have single-sex toilets, the one place that should be a refuge, made unisex. Just so that women can never be alone.

They just had MRA Martin Daubney on Radio 5 defending men's right to harass women and girls. Proper MRA bullshit bingo.

Men are harrassed too. Men don't know what to do these days. Men are under threat.

Diddums, the poor loves!

BeerAndBassGuitars · 23/10/2018 07:45

And obviously out of single sex shared sleeping accommodation: hospital wards; guide camp; YHA dorms...

WomanLifeIsGoodish · 23/10/2018 07:45

I woke up to MM on radio 5 live this morning talking about this very subject.

How she can keep a straight face talking about how women and young girls are routinely harassed in pubs, clubs and public transport whilst holding the belief that those same abusive men would never dream of exploiting loopholes to get easier access to women is staggering.

She can’t believe it can she? Which begs the question, why if she is clearly aware of the current shitty state of affairs, she is gaily walking us into a even more desperate situation?

WomanLifeIsGoodish · 23/10/2018 07:48

Yes juells - as young women my friends and I routine,y headed to the toilets in clubs for refuge from creepy, persistent blokes.

No chance for future young women.

shearwater · 23/10/2018 07:58

Oh right, another trans thread.

JellySlice · 23/10/2018 08:04

No, another thread about the material reality of being a woman.

WomanLifeIsGoodish · 23/10/2018 08:13

No this thread us about abusive men exploiting a legal loophole.

You have conflated abusive men with trans people and I would say that is transphobic.

Dljlr · 23/10/2018 08:58

You have conflated abusive men with trans people and I would say that is transphobic.

Acknowledging the reality that men from every background are capable of violence towards women is not transphobic. Denying the rights of women and girls to discuss their safety or take steps to protect themselves is misogynistic. Hth.

Juells · 23/10/2018 09:00

shearwater

Oh right, another trans thread.

A thread about the abuse that women are subjected to daily.

She was tackled about it briefly on today r4 this morning.

WomanLifeIsGoodish · 23/10/2018 13:34

dljlr you have misunderstood my post.

I was replying to shearwaters unhelpful snipe about it being another trans thread, whereas we are actually discussing the report on male abusive behaviour. I do think it’s transphobic of shearwater to suggest that a thread about male abusive behaviour is a “trans thread” and looked a bit too convenient to me as screenshot fodder.

I realise I should have quoted the post I was replying to, but was being lazy.
