Hi,

I posted at letter I wrote to Judith Blake after the cancelled WPUK meeting in Leeds a couple of weeks ago.

No reply from Leeds City Council (surprise!) but the Yorkshire Evening post, who covered the original cancellation, asked me to write an opinion piece.

Here's a link:

Nice one, OP. Very calm and rational. Thanks for putting yourself out there so bravely for women and girls everywhere. 💐

Wonderful article, succinct and full of a range of convincing arguments, congratulations!

Finally managed to open the link. What a powerful, eloquent and reasoned letter. The people who cancelled this meeting should be thoroughly ashamed. Thank you for putting yourself out there and sharing your own difficult and very personal story. I am sure it will not have been in vain. You are an amazing woman Flowers

Yay, finally managed to access it. Brilliant article, OP, though I'm so sorry to hear you were raped. I think you put the case so well - it's calm, succinct and to the point.

The protest was against the marginalisation of lesbians within the LGBT movement and the re-definition of ‘lesbian’. As a male friend explained, that protest was an act of bigotry and that lesbians are women who find members of the female gender, regardless of biological sex, attractive. As a lesbian I disagree.

Brilliantly put. I'll be stealing this!

Thank you OP. Up until now I’ve never really shared, but you have inspired me to do so. I am against the GRA, as I was sexually assaulted by two men in the women’s toilets when I was 15. I do not cope well with males in bathrooms. Like you I never deposit to the police because I knew it would be their word against mine. I’m also in West Yorkshire. I am against anything that could open more women to the possibility of my own experience, or worse. I am terrified at the thought that I would be unable to challenge anyone putting me back in that situation.

Thank you OP, on so many levels.Flowers

Really brave, powerful and insightful piece. I’ve shared it on Facebook - my second GC post this week. My first got 2 likes and tumbleweed. If people bother to read, I cannot see how they could fail to see the reason and justice of the case you make. Thank you.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 17/10/2018 23:42

Well done you! Star
