Debating the GRA consultation with my DB

I though I would test the waters with my brothers. They are fairly woke but also consider themselves feminists.
One asked: “If 200,000 - 500,000 people in the UK identify themselves as some form of trans / intersex and less than 5,000 of them actually have a GRC then something, somewhere, isn't working properly.”

Leaning aside the trans/intersex conflation, how do I answer that?

"and will get beaten up for going in the men's loos”?

Ah. He's one of those. Looking out for his fellow men. Not women.

Ask his if he thinks Ian Huntley should be in the female estate.

If Ian Huntley is ever released, should he be in the women's toilets, changing rooms or hospital wards with you, his wife, mother, daughter?

if your GP refuses to treat you because they refuse to accept you as trans.

Just change GP. Lots of people do it all the time.

Merry Apparently, GPs can prescribe what are referred to as "bridging hormones" while patients are waiting for an appointment at a gender clinic. But of course it would be irresponsible for them not to exercise at least some clinical judgment in this area, as in any other. Hormones are not sweeties.

If your new GP also won't prescribe bridging hormones, there may be an objective reason why you are unsuitable.

it took a a few chats with my brother to get point across. He did the consultation. Karen White and transitioning children are points that helped him get the implications.

Oh yes and the fact our dear Mum may end up in a home, unable to have the legal right to same sex personal care.

"and will get beaten up for going in the men's loos”?

So they should go into loos where the people are less intimidating (ie. women) - where they are the big scary one, rather than the people already in there? Does that sound in any way right?

If men's loos are that dangerous, then that's a huge societal problem that needs to be dealt with!

Actually, if 80% of transwomen retain their penis, how often would the situation arise where they would need to go into the kind of men's toilet that might be dangerous for them, anyway? People with a penis can just find a dark corner somewhere to pee, and frequently do.
