I spent most of yesterday completing the consultation and realised that:
- the approach gave it a feel of a private club. I, as a non transgender, felt mean for intruding.
- that most people won't have the time, and will feel uncomfortable essentially saying "no", especially if they perceive transgender as being primarily gender dysmorphic "Butterfly" types.
- people get the reasons behind sex based sport.
It has taken ages to increase public interest in women's sport, but it is finally happening in football, netball, tennis and so on. Female sex and female gender can be very different things as state level US athletics is starting to show.
I have therefore posted on AIBU (First time - tin hat on) asking people to simply answer question 12.

It makes it all simpler. No need to delve into the deeper reaches of gender theory, not whether a trans-boy is safer in the girls or boys changing rooms (though that does come into it) but simply whether people are concerned that male bodied kids might win all the prizes of that little Mini might be expected to play rugby against big Maxi. It is also something dads of girls seem to get and care about.
