The aftermath of the intern data leak?

stealthsquirrelnutkin · 08/10/2018 15:17

Has anything has been done to tighten security in compliance with law after the incident in April when the paid intern doxxed the women of FWR and drove so many Feminists off the site?

Place marking.
I left post EmmaGate due to " an incident" which I won't discuss, but not PBP or anything
Then I re joined some time later.

So weird that nothing happened with her at all.
Did she get a good reference from MN then, for CAMRA and elsewhere ? Shock
And if so, why?

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 12/10/2018 19:08

Why are MN taking to so long to respond properly to these questions? It's not as though they need to go off and make enquiries, they already have the answers, it's the past we're asking about, not the future.

Leeds Leeds Leeds

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 13/10/2018 01:31

Ah, maybe clownfish. But NAYAWLT (not all yorkshire women are like that). Apart from being strong and apparently aggressive some of us have our own actual purse strings and brains. Fancy that!

Where's thebewilderness? She ought to have a wise observation on this?

Weezol · 13/10/2018 01:47

@MNHQ You say that police were 'made aware'. What does this mean?

Because it suggests, to me, that you didn't make a formal complaint. I would be grateful for some clarification on this.

TIA

BettyFloop · 13/10/2018 01:55

Where's thebewilderness? She ought to have a wise observation on this?

Booted.

Her wise observations are denied here.

Blackoutblinds · 13/10/2018 07:21

So someone sends me an abusive pm.

I report it but in the meantime before a mod can look at it they delete it

And there’s then no evidence at all
Unless I’ve screenshotted it.

That doesn’t sound right. I can’t have understood that right.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 15/10/2018 14:18

@MNHQ, have you had an opportunity to consider the further questions on this thread?

Thanks

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 16/10/2018 22:58

Bump

Weezol · 17/10/2018 15:40

@MNHQ Any response?

DereksSexyPyjamas · 23/10/2018 19:57

@MNHQ

It’s now been 10 days since I requested whether attempts to access PMs by mods were logged in any way. Can we get an answer on this please?

Doesn’t part of GDPR relate to companies being transparent about how data is used and processed? Why is it taking so long to get an answer?

OlennasWimple · 23/10/2018 21:53

This thread should be in Site Stuff. It's not just FWR frequenters who are at risk if MN data is abused - Relationships, Fostering, Adoption, Health, SEN... all cover sensitive issues and users PM each other things that are not for wider consumption

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 24/10/2018 21:49

I've reported your post DereksSexyPyjamas

it would be great to get the courtesy of a reply

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 24/10/2018 21:50

sorry, i've just realised that sounds as if I'm demanding a reply from you DereksSexyPyjamas. While it would be lovely to hear from you, I don't think you can give me the definitive answer on whether access to PMs is logged!

DereksSexyPyjamas · 24/10/2018 23:15

Oh, I don’t know about that, Bernard. I’ve got a feeling I know exactly what the answer is.

MyGhoulMumsnet · 25/10/2018 15:07

Hi, and thanks for your patience.
We don't currently log access to private messages. We're researching how we can implement access logs on our systems.

As Kate mentioned earlier, 'Staff with mod clearance are able to look at PMs, and they very occasionally do so if they believe that it's necessary in order to protect other users. Once PMs are deleted they can't be viewed or retrieved.'

We have tight control over who is able to access PMs and there's also a 'delete' option that you can use for anything in your 'inbox' or 'sent' mail that you consider too sensitive.
