I’ve just seen this poster at my local Children’s Centre. I’m not wrong in thinking it’s basically just bollocks, am I? Please tell me most people don’t actually believe this garbage! I’ve read the ‘lesson plan’ and according to that I’m an androgynous, genderqueer straight woman - I’m not, I’m just me who happens to be a woman who doesn’t subscribe to this externally imposed gender ID nonsense 😤

I find all this so worrying and feel very uneasy about what my child will be taught about gender at school. How do you argue against it without being made to feel like a bigot? I know many people, possibly a majority, feel the same but debates always seem to get shouted down by the other side (not on here thankfully - I’ve been lurking for a while and love these pages).

V is for vulva, P is for paedophile

bluetitsaretits · 08/10/2018 14:41

A quote from the blurb about the book :

'V is for Vulva’ breaks down the confusion surrounding the idea of what our genitalia actually looks like by showing how our bodies differ on a spectrum. We believe it is important to highlight intersex bodies and those whose genitalia isn’t represented in standard sex education books. This helps young children understand that things aren’t always ‘one or the other'.

Hmmm. A 'spectrum' of genitals. So- a big old 'outy' at one end, the deepest of 'innies' at the other. That means presumably that there's smooth 'action man' type people in the middle. That's not confusing at all.

Genderbread Person features in the Woodcraft Folk's Transgender Inclusion doc. Nuff said......

SPOFS · 08/10/2018 15:25

'Expression' is in the armpit?!? Since when?

bluetitsaretits · 08/10/2018 16:31

spofs I wondered about that too. Is that why deodorant packaging is so 'gendered'?

nellieellie · 08/10/2018 19:25

The gender unicorn

  1. Biological sex is an ambiguous word that has no scale and no meaning besides that it is related to some sex characteristics.
It is also harmful to trans people.

Erm.....

The Genderbread Person has been withdrawn -- in Australia. But it made the Daily Mail (shudder! Look away!) so...

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8333507/Controversial-transgender-education-tool-Genderbread-Person-pulled-NSW-school.html

(MN is suggesting that I start a new thread but I don't want to do that, as some people new to GC topics this may not yet be acquainted with this person, or of its use in the UK)

Gncq · 23/05/2020 08:02

So it's been withdrawn from one school in Australia, but presumably still doing the rounds in other schools.

It makes me want to barge into my son's school demanding to see all their print outs!

DickKerrLadies · 23/05/2020 08:25

"'Gender fluidity is not part of the NSW Curriculum. The department does not endorse the use of associated materials and schools have been made aware of this,' the spokeswoman [from the NSW Department of education] said.

'The Safe Schools program is not and never has been, part of the NSW curriculum. The NSW Department of Education does not promote this program or its resources.'"

Well that's a very interesting response from the NSW DoE - could they distance themselves any further from this program?

And again, the question is, if the NSW DoE does not endorse these materials, how did they get into the schools in the first place, if not from the NSW DoE?

FemaleAndLearning · 23/05/2020 08:45

OP
If you want ideas about how to write to your school about gender and sex Safe School Alliance have lots of resources. I've used them to challenge my school.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 23/05/2020 08:53

The NSW Dept of Education is just like our own DfE here. Some bigwig wrote to Baroness Nicholson yesterday assuring her that the DfE do not endorse trans lobby groups (some of whom are producing inappropriate sexual SRE material for children and schools) while ignoring the fact that the guidance on the Equality Act they cited did precisely that - advised schools to go to Stonewall and GIRES for advice.

They're trying to go all teflon but they've been throwing mega bucks at these groups for years and exercised no due diligence about who these groups are or what they're telling children.

BovaryX · 23/05/2020 10:05

Why is 'expression' located under the armpit of this wavy confectionary? What a load of total bollocks

Oh lord! Posted this on wrong thread -- sorry!

FemaleAndLearning · 23/05/2020 11:56

Email the children's centre and ask for it to be removed as it is sexist.
