Compare & contrast - a women's experience of reporting a sexual offence

This brave women, supported by her journalist father, has gone public and given up her right to anonymity, to highlight how her report of a man who committed a sexual offence against her, who then went on to stalk her in her place of work, is given no help or support by either the police, her employer or the venue security and/or site management where she works, in addressing her justified fear for her safety and to the right to protection from a man who continued to harass & intimidate her.

This is in Scotland - does anyone think WYP would head up to address this problem in the same way they are traveling around England to address so-called "transphobic hate crime"? Maybe there's a dedicated specialist team of police officers roaming the country dealing with these types of cases for women, and this article will alert them to the problem this woman faces? 🤔

Apologies for the "snark" in my post but I'm raging at the blatant disregard for women's safety every fucking day when so much of police time and resources are being focused on non existent crime policing thoughts. So many women either report and get this response or don't report at all because what's the point where the police and employers do nothing to help or support women who experience this.

We can compare and contrast all VAW crimes with this policing of 'trabsphobic hate crime.' How many of us have been dismissed by the police?

I was assaulted by my then partner whilst pregnant a few years back and by the sounds of it the police spent more time dealing with GL than they did with my ex. Despite the incident having a very high DASH score. When he turned up at my house one night a few weeks later, the police didn't even bother speaking to him as he'd obviously scarpered and blamed me for wasting their time. Bearing mind I was alone with a young child. Yet West Yorkshire police bothered themselves with this nonsense.

Just another realisation how little violence against women matters.

Yup, and contrast Caitie's shocking experience with the 5 police officers and a police horse who turned out yesterday because of 3 women peacefully handing out leaflets.

(Caitie - I salute your bravery in waiving your anonymity in order to speak.)

Doctor your experience is so depressingly common too. It's so frustrating knowing women face real and genuine fear over male violence and sexual violence yet are so woefully supported by the police and the state when addressing this.

It’s just so appalling and sad.
