If there is an election?
Is there a party I can join?
Does anybody read spoiled ballot papers?
I feel disenfranchised.
Might as well not have a vote.Sad

Are you serious???? You are voting based on self ID! There are some far more pressing issues to base your vote on
Are you scared? Single issue voters willing to vote for whoever supports them are the quickest way to get things changed.
I'm not sure all the posters here will follow through with it, I have a feeling several (not just on this thread) will talk themselves into voting for their usual party. Me I'll vote for a GC candidate only. If there isn't one I'll spoil my paper.

madeoficecream · 02/10/2018 23:51

Im voting Labour. I dont support self ID but I dont trust the tories at all. They might not pander to trans activists but they certainly dont have womens interests at heart either...
I dont realistically see anyone else getting in...
So as I agree with Labour more than the Tories I will be voting for Labour.

I would never not vote nor spoil my ballot paper.... I think that achieves nothing.

I do not want to face Brexit with a Conservative government.

ToeToToe · 02/10/2018 23:53

Spoiled ballots may not be read, but they are counted aren't they?

I'd spoil a ballot rather than just not vote.

Write something like "None of the above - No Self ID"

LassWiADelicateAir · 02/10/2018 23:58

Spoiled ballots may not be read, but they are counted aren't they?

Only in the sense that say 40,000 papers were issued and 20 were spoiled. The returning officer has to announce the numbers of spoiled papers.

ToeToToe · 03/10/2018 00:02

Yes, that's what I meant. The number is read out.

LassWiADelicateAir · 03/10/2018 00:05

But so what?

ToeToToe · 03/10/2018 00:07

I have nobody to fucking vote for, that's what.

RedToothBrush · 03/10/2018 00:08

If you feel disenfranchised start whinging about it. Write to local councillors. Take this grass roots. Many grass roots people of all parties don't understand this.

Make them.

Doing stuff with the central parties has been done. I think next step is to take stuff local.

ToeToToe · 03/10/2018 00:15

Sorry Lass, that sounded shitty to you, it's the situation I find shitty.

Never thought in 2018 I'd have no party to represent my views at all. Not even the WEP.

Between Brexit, self ID and Momentum/Corbyn/Gulag party - I just don't.

silentcrow · 03/10/2018 00:24

Having done vote counting for local elections in the dim and distant, it's not worth spoiling a ballot. Nobody notices beyond dropping it in a pile for the report. The pressure to count accurately and quickly is too great to do anything but smirk at the odd crudely drawn cock and balls. There's always one.

I'm as homeless as the rest of you but I haven't written off either candidate yet (smaller parties get nowhere here)...I'll need to do a lot more research next time round.

LassWiADelicateAir · 03/10/2018 00:25

No worries. We were slightly at cross purposes. A spoiled ballot paper is counted but it counts for nothing.

Randomusername01 · 03/10/2018 00:25

Is this an issue that mainly affects labour supporters? I can't vote because corbyn/self id/Can't bring myself to vote Tory? Never read Tory voters saying the same, usually if anything it's 'Can't stand Theresa May but would rather vote for her than let labour into power". Tory voters must think this not voting as Xmas come early.

ToeToToe · 03/10/2018 00:34

Lass - I know that. A lot of spoiled votes might raise eyebrows though. But probably not. Hey ho. Perhaps I'll go and live in Hawaii instead.

ToeToToe · 03/10/2018 00:35

Boris or Theresa May?

Corbyn or Theresa May?

Corbyn or Boris? Shock

Angryresister · 03/10/2018 05:42

In Spain you can have a blank voting paper which means it gets counted as none of the candidates get your vote. there should be some way in UK for counting those that no longer have any faith in any of the parties.

3TresTrois · 03/10/2018 09:50

I resigned my membership over self ID. Yes.
I don’t feel that Labour represents me as a gender critical woman and that is a HUGE issue for me, my daughter, all women.

I don’t know what to do about voting. That’s the point if this thread, isn’t it?

3TresTrois · 03/10/2018 09:51

Corbyn or Boris

What a choice!

LassWiADelicateAir · 03/10/2018 13:39

Corbyn is still worst choice
