I've got to get this off my chest and rant a bit, about something that makes me sick when I watch womens' golf. Excuse me.
In golf, you can have a caddie. When you're a little girl, your Dad will be your caddie (almost exclusively). Dads tend to do more than caddying though. During the round, they will coach, they scold, they tell the girl what to do and how. I see little girls in tears, quite often as they climb into Dad's car and leave.
When you progress to competitions and carry your own bag, Dad is still there. Between holes, they coach, they scold and they tell the teenager what to do and how. I see teen age girls in tears, in car-parks, sometimes.
In professional golf, you will have a caddie. Every shot takes an age because a significant number of these professional sportwomen confers with her man-on-the-bag. (Not all, but a lot) He hands her a club, tells her what to do and lines her up for the shot. When he's happy, he moves away. Viewers are left with the impression that a man is in control of a robot.
It is a friggin' disgrace to watch on TV or live.
These elite women golfers appear weak and submissive. They are very boring to watch. They are rotten role models.
And they wonder why women's golf is underfunded and doesn't attract more participants?
Personally, I would do something radical about the grooming of girl golfers to defer to men WHILE PLAYING IN COMPETITIONS. I would only allow unrelated people of the same sex to act as caddies.
I feel better now. Thank you.
