It's been a crazy day

The whole thing seems to be picking up a pace. There are some brave people out there. Thank you.

I want to leave you at bedtime with this TRA discussing their dog. Whilst I agree touching a dog that doesn't want you too may end up in a bite, this person ought to be careful! It sounds like a threat! Self defence is no defence.

Goodnight sisters.

Oh now what does that remind me of?

KatVonGulag · 02/10/2018 06:51

I want to know if "they" genuinely ask doggos consent before a pat. #barkingmad

Shouldn't we also be asking our babies for their consent before changing their nappies?

Look at threads in MN - yes, you damned well shouid ask (the owner) before in with a pet dog, especially one on a lead who cannot get away. And DC need to be taught to ask first. The number who think it's Ok to just let a strange dog which you will,pi find out if you own an attractive dog) is alarmingly high.

So the owner/walker decides whether whether the dog should be approached. Just as the parent/caregiver who decides who takes off a n infant's nappy.

I do however have a feeling I have wandered in to the middle of something other than a straightforward scenario though.

FermatsTheorem · 02/10/2018 07:11

In fairness, Kat, anyone sane who's been around dogs much in their life does know to "ask" a dog permission, in that you let it sniff the back of your hand, watch its body language (tail, ears, whether it nuzzles your hand) before stroking it. Failure to do this and you may well get bitten. Particularly important to try to teach your toddler this (especially if like me your toddler was a doggy-seeking guided missile).

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 02/10/2018 07:24

However, if you have a dog that doesn’t like people, to the extent it might bite a stranger, why take it to the pub?

MrsBertBibby · 02/10/2018 07:36

I'm sure the owner asked the dog and the dog said "yes please" to the pub jaunt.

Juells · 02/10/2018 07:37

That just doesn't sound genuine to me, it sounds more like a parody

Nosublettingmyspace · 02/10/2018 07:42

This poor dog has been put in that position and now its only option is to fight back.....sounds familiar.

KatVonGulag · 02/10/2018 07:51

Oh yes! I totally agree you don't want to get bitten. Same holds for all animals.

Just the terminology it was framed in tickled me!

So let me check I've got this straight. Dogs - must be asked for consent before patting on head. Women - must NOT be asked for consent for having cavity searches/smear tests carried out by someone with a penis. Righty ho.

BigChocFrenzy · 02/10/2018 08:15

Ah, but the dog self-IDed as human and is being helped by Merhounds to trans

Perhaps the dog identifies as a cat and so finds patting offensive.
