I very rarely give to charity and really want to make a change. I particularly want to support a charity that helps women but could do with some advice as to which is the best one. Ideally it would be a smaller charity so if anyone has any that they know i'd appreciate the suggestions Smile

It's not really an answer to your question, I know, but I support a local food bank. I make a monthly donation - they may have a bit of a different structure from most food banks in that the users are expected to pay a very small amount each week. So those that can't are funded by donors. Not all users are women but the vast majority are.

Thanks for the reply, I've just been reading up on the charity nia that Karen ingela-Smith is the chief executive of and it's just what I was looking for.

Jean Hatchet has a GoFundMe open for Wearside Women in Need. I don't think I can link here, but if you google Jean Hatchet GoFundMe, you'll find it.

The other one I can think of is the Women's Holiday Centre in Horton. Their Facebook page is here.

Thanks bingbong, i'll look into both of those. Great name by the way, I'm guessing that you too have a Peppa Pig fan in your household!

women shelters

If you're prepared to think internationally, the WaterAid.

It's an utter travesty that there still exist communities with no safe water or basic sanitation. And the lack of it has a disproportionate negative effect on women and girls who are the (dirty) water carriers - missing education and all sorts of other opportunities because of that burden.

I hadn't thought of WaterAid so i'll have a good read up about them now. I've got a longer list then I did before so thanks to everyone for your ideas.
