According to a Buzzfeed journo (so may be unreliable)

twitter.com/MarkDiStef/status/1043080725451468800

"Source says that after several complaints have been made recently about Guardian journalists attacking Owen Jones on Twitter there’s a specific point under “Tone”."

"Point 5: “Do not use social media to air internal disputes with colleagues or contributors, or with the Guardian""

Sorry, posted too soon.

This relates to FWR because a few female Guardian journos have called LOJ out recently... I guess they're being put on the naughty step.

OvaHere · 21/09/2018 20:04

That's fair enough. Political disagreements aren't internal disputes though. Unless of course everyone who writes for the Guardian should engage in groupthink.

OlennasWimple · 21/09/2018 20:25

Maybe his mum wrote to the editor to complain

AngryAttackKittens · 21/09/2018 20:32

So these are the "shut up, Hadley Freeman" guidelines.

Don't shut up, Hadley, you're brilliant!

frogintheTyne · 21/09/2018 20:34

Maybe his mum wrote to the editor to complain

Hah! Grin

IAmLurkacus · 21/09/2018 20:41

Maybe his mum wrote to the editor to complain

If all our Mums write will the guardian stop being such misogynistic shits?

Charliethefeminist · 21/09/2018 20:45

That's pathetic. Party line? Except, you know, it's the press supposedly upholding the freedom to air different opinions.

Funny they didn't stop loj from using an abusive term to describe women, for sure.

AngryAttackKittens · 21/09/2018 20:53

Maybe we should write to the Guardian using a mum-like tone.

"Dear editor, I am very disappointed in your handling of young Owen's behavior. How is it that you are allowing him to bully his colleagues in such a manner, and why doesn't he ever do any actual investigative work? It's such bad parenting to openly favor him above poor young Hadley, who quite frankly is a much better writer. How do you plan to correct this imbalance?"

FermatsTheorem · 21/09/2018 21:10

So these are the "shut up, Hadley Freeman" guidelines.

Don't shut up, Hadley, you're brilliant!

Seconded! I love Hadders. Sanctimonious Morph, on the other hand, can just do one.

RedToothBrush · 21/09/2018 21:45

Do not be self critical of the guardian because it might not make us look terribly good and in line with the brand image we try and project.

Incidentally who is watching The Press on BBC atm.

I must say I'm enjoying. It funny watching how they are portraying The Herald as rather sanctimonious hypocrites. Love the font The Herald uses. It reminds me of something, can't remember what though... Nope can't place it.

Freespeecher · 21/09/2018 21:49

One of his colleagues (think it was Rafael Behr) recently called him 'Squealer' in a tweet.

But yes, think this is the 'stop Hadley' rule.

FermatsTheorem · 21/09/2018 21:53

One of his colleagues (think it was Rafael Behr) recently called him 'Squealer' in a tweet.

Ouch!

Harsh but true.

Freespeecher · 21/09/2018 22:01

I think Squealer is even better than Sanctimonious Morph (there, I said it).

FermatsTheorem · 21/09/2018 22:05

And here he is...

The Guardian's new social media guidelines for their journalists
Freespeecher · 21/09/2018 22:08

"Jeremy! Wait up, Jeremy!"

rightreckoner · 21/09/2018 22:11

Do we need a Free Hadley campaign? Surely no sane woman can survive at the Guardian and no sane woman is reading it any more.

Hadley, tap once if you can hear us ....we are working to get you out of there but it may take some time. Stay strong and await the next signal.

RedToothBrush · 21/09/2018 22:15

What did Lisa Muggeridge say about women journalists on the left...

... This revelation doesn't discredit her, does it?

Freespeecher · 21/09/2018 22:16

Can only be a matter of time before the quality journos at the Graun (Hadley and John Harris) bolt for the Speccie. Maybe the New Statesman.

Can't wait for the Scott Trust money (held in a tax haven, natch) to run out.

Charliethefeminist · 21/09/2018 22:20

Hadley this gift is your annual bonus. Also we are banning all the words. Love, the Guardian

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 21/09/2018 22:29

Can't wait for the Scott Trust money (held in a tax haven, natch) to run out

Suspect they've been topping it up from somewhere

RedToothBrush · 21/09/2018 22:31

A wraparound maybe?

RedToothBrush · 21/09/2018 22:58

Owen Jones @owenjones84
A tinpot dictatorship which directly controlled its press would blush at the sycophancy of these front pages. The British press is, with honourable exceptions, an absolute joke.

Irony klaxon.

placemats · 22/09/2018 00:02

I've been watching, and loving, Press. I know it's fiction, but I doubt very much a 'Commentator', who gets average when it comes to media shares, could have so much influence. Nah! Can't see it.

This is an interesting tweet from Deborah Orr who used to be on the staff list.

twitter.com/DeborahJaneOrr/status/1042485239707316229

Will is being a prick basically, according to Deborah.

I love it when people air their dirty laundry in public.

SPOFS · 22/09/2018 12:03

LOJ has the classic problem of "he can dish it out, but he can't take it"

He has zero problem attacking countless feminists, but he throws a massive tantrum whenever anyone criticizes his own philosophies.
