My MP is firmly against the GRA. However, he's not going to get away with minimising the damage caused by the Conservative's embrace and promotion of the Transgender cause. I'm still going.
I'm not even going to talk about the GRA. I will leave him a copy of some literature from FairPlayForWomen, instead. And then - have a look at my list and see whether I've missed anything - I've only got 10 minutes.
I am going to ask him to justify government policies.
- Why are serial rapists, paedophiles and domestic violence offenders in the female prison estate?
- Why are service providers encouraged, by the government, to enable transgender people to access services and facilities in their acquired 'gender'?
-Why do bodies like the British Gymnastic association and the Girl Guides, encouraged by the government, tell parents and girls that they should leave if they don't like sharing space with transfeminine boys
-Why does my council, encouraged by the government, no longer see 'sex' as a protected characteristic but prefers to the nebulous term 'gender'
-why do my local police treat detainees in their preferred gender (meaning that a female officer has to search a male bodied detainee)
-why are crimes that committed by men being recorded as crimes committed by women?
-Can he explain the special relationship between the government and transgender organisations and lobby groups?
I will be on the offensive. I will ask what his government it will do to right the damage done to the Equality Act. I will point the finger at government directives and cosy partnerships with lobby groups. I will tell him that I am angry about the risks and safeguarding dangers that have been made possible by the Conservatives.
I will tell him that nothing less than an urgent review of government policy to validate 'gender' rather than uphold the 'sex' part of the Equality Act, is what his government need to do now, today.
What am I missing?
