I did lone wolf campaigning on the GRA

FPFW wouldn't put me in touch with any groups as I don't really have a social media profile so they couldn't be sure I was someone who would go and harrass/ attack their campaigners. I understand their position but I was so outraged that in 2018 women have to clandestine to ensure their safety when they want to meet other women to campaign on issues that affect us, that I decided to do my own lone wolf campaigning anyway. It was fine. I only spoke to five people but had really in depth conversations with them.

I've posted this to be encouraging to any others in the same situation.

Well done you.

The outrageous campaign to silence women has been one thing that has made me more and more determined.

GenderApostate · 16/09/2018 19:55

Yep, me and Mel North are pretty isolated up here in North Staffs. It’s not a woke beardy dude area though, lots of actual social problems and deprivation, saying twaw here is likely to be met with raucous laughter rather than earnest nods.

Datun · 16/09/2018 19:56

Well done. It's awful that you had to have a track record. And it's reassuring that you understand why.

Good for you.

This grass roots campaigning is amazing. I'm in awe.

seafret · 16/09/2018 20:27

Well done. And thank you. I hav the ame situation as don't use FB or Twitter. It is shocking that this is happening.

I am donating though and doing what I can anonymously as not secure in RL. I have spoken to someone though this week so another person who now knows what is going on.

GulagMilkMonitor · 16/09/2018 20:43

Good on you!
I did something similar this weekend when I went to my DD’s sporting event and handed out some print outs. I received no bother and genuinely everyone seemed shocked by what I had to say. Many are emailing their MPs and I’ve given out my email so if they have any questions or want links I can help them.

I get why FPFW have to do it that way.
It’s a shame that women have to be so careful because of TRA attackers.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 16/09/2018 21:10

fantastic work - you're very brave!

ScipioAfricanus · 16/09/2018 21:24

I keep trying to message FPFW to get put in touch with others and it says ‘there’s an error’ and to try again later. Is that happening to anyone else?

Well done OP and I wish I were as brave as you.

heresyandwitchcraft · 16/09/2018 21:47

Well done OP! That’s lovely to hear. Will try to muster up some of your courage. Thank you for speaking for women!

womensvoicesmatter · 16/09/2018 23:17

myphoneisgone how frustrating. I hate that it's come to this. I want to arrange a meet up locally, just a small one - but I want to publicise it and I'm having to consider security.

Have you got a FPFW campaign pack? They're £3.50 and you can get them here: fairplayforwomen.com/product/pack1/

The FPFW hubs are focusing on hitting the streets with flyers but there's loads more to do - e.g. reaching out to community groups and especially religious groups (most of whom have no idea this is going on), to women's sports teams, anywhere you have links or feel happy approaching.

Also, it's MacMillan month at the moment, why not have a MacMillan coffee morning and invite friends to fill in the consultation together - or at least talk about it.

cheesepretzel · 16/09/2018 23:33

Well done you! I want to do it as well but when I raised self id in a feminist group recently, hoping to find some like minded people, had a lot of abuse so stepped back.

Hackedoffwoman · 16/09/2018 23:39

Grass roots is where it's at! Reach out to all , make connections.

littlbrowndog · 16/09/2018 23:41

I do too. Just speaking to anyone I know

No one but no one knows about this

And when they hear that women’s have dicks it’s like unbelievable
I speak on my gaming site and the guys are like wtaf

littlbrowndog · 16/09/2018 23:41

And in my sports team

WhatTheWatersShowedMe · 17/09/2018 09:53

I peak transed two members of the local bridge club whilst I was waiting for an appointment with my MP. I peak transed two work colleagues. one of them peak transed her mother. They're all filling out the consultation. Talking to people on the ground works.

myphoneisgone · 17/09/2018 12:07

Women'svoicesmatter - yes I do have a big box of campaign materials. And I did reach out to religious groups. I spoke to some Jehovah's witnesses but they say they never campaign on any political issues as they believe everything is in God's hands. And to some muslim men who had a stall. They took a leaflet and said they would discuss this within their group..
