I'm very disappointed with them. They have emailed me tonight urging me to fill in the Gra consultation. The slogan is "I am who i say I am". I've emailed them previously with concerns about women's rights. They responded saying they were sorry I couldn't support trans rights , but could they interest me in supporting women's rights!

I would respond if they centred women rights there might be the basis for a conversation - but as they centre men's entitlement to define women and what's acceptable for women, there's no basis of mutual respect.

Also, I would cancel any financial support and give it to women centred organisations instead.

Amnesty is a lost cause - I wouldn't waste my breath or time tbh. They will change when their management information shows the drop in subscriptions

There are pro prostitution! They give no fucks about women.

MrsTerryPratchett · 16/09/2018 03:20

They are pro-women exactly the amount that pleases penises.

Like I am rapidly coming to the conclusion every big organization is.

Coyoacan · 16/09/2018 17:30

It seems that all these major charities lost their way when they became part of the establishment.

OvaHere · 16/09/2018 17:35

Amnesty have been very disappointing for a long time. Any talk of women's rights is purely lip service because they are part of the establishment that seeks to dismantle them.

VickyEadie · 16/09/2018 17:40

"I am who I say I am".

I'm the fucking Queen of the World, so do as I say.

theOtherPamAyres · 16/09/2018 18:22

Amnesty. The charity that pays £100K to a dozen executives. That Amnesty?

boldlygoingsomewhere · 16/09/2018 18:32

I stopped supporting them years ago due to their pro-prostitution, sex is a human right stance. It’s blatantly obvious they give no real shits about women and girls. Wouldn’t surprise me if their male staff also take advantage of vulnerable women. I’m only donating to local charities now where I know the money and help us going where it’s needed.

FermatsTheorem · 16/09/2018 18:36

I'll see them "I am who I say I am" and raise them "Woman is not a feeling in a man's head."

I lost all respect for Amnesty over the prostitution debacle.

OldCrone · 16/09/2018 19:25

They put out this statement in July, jointly with Liberty. I cancelled my Liberty membership and made a donation to Fair Play for Women.

howonearthdidwegethere · 16/09/2018 19:40

Other half and I have been Amnesty members for 35 successive years between us. When his membership lapsed (he joined in his teens), I took one out.

We cancelled this year in disgust at their increasing misogyny (stance on 'sex work', use of Shon Faye to front a women's campaign, attitude of local office to gender critical feminists).

I'm done with them.

In past decade, I've also paid subs to Liberty, the Fawcett Society, WEP and Labour party. Cancelled them all now. All my monies going to WPUK and FPFW plus some overseas charities that centre women and girls.

It's a sad state of affairs.

ErrolTheDragon · 16/09/2018 19:54

"I am who i say I am"

If they believe that, then everyone should cancel any financial support as they're going to lose it all to scammers.

Is there a 'most fatuous slogan of the year' award we can nominate them for?

I'd rather go with, 'if someone shows you who they are, believe them'.
