Idly musing with a friend whose DD is in Y6 and she is looking at secondary schools.

Her eldest son is at the very over subscribed, highest performing school in our county, which just happens to be a school for boys (accepts girls in the sixth form) and she was saying "it's a pity that DD can't go there next year, she would love it, they have so many more opportunities and facilities than "...

Made me wonder if her DD did want to go, could she self identify for a short while and apply?

I'm half tempted to ring the school on Monday and ask the question.

Surely there is a girls' school as well as a boys' school. And invariably the girls' school does better than the boys' school.

Yes there are two girls' schools, one private which is on par with the boys school and one state which performs nowhere near as well.

Just discussing this with DSD who is studying law and DD who want me to call the school and ask what their policy is on trans children.

As silent crow says, it is a quick way of peak transing a lot of people

My daughter just started at a girls school. I asked about this and they said they only admit children born female regardless of how they identify. I’m starting to get to know some parents - there would be riots and chaos if they tried to change this!

I suspect we live in the same town and the provision for girls and boys is very, very different. Which is just wrong. And of course sibling link would apply if your friend had two boys, whearas because her youngest is a girl, it’s two different schools.
It’s an interesting thought experiment, because self Id isn’t expected to apply to hereditary peerages or to so many of the real life examples of male advantage. That includes this dd not actually being able to hold her own in contact sports at the boys school whearas a boy at secondary with girls could be in every first team!

The real issue is why there is not an equally good school for girls ...
That was what struck me too.

@OneEpisode I won't name the school or the town or they are one and the same so anyone searching for it will come across this but it was the school that a recent Dr Who went to.
