Female prisoners who have been assaulted to sue the gov?

I know people donated with a specific intention for the few that are going around but the government gives 0 shits about annoying women wanting rights. It does however hate getting sued. This might be an easier avenue to pursue.

Hopefully yes. I was just looking at centreforwomensjustice from the thread on women's charities. They may be interested.

Tartle · 10/09/2018 09:08

I think we could easily crowdfund again for this.

Farahilda · 10/09/2018 09:26

Think it would be an unfortunate precedent to allow funds donated for one purpose to be used for another. There is a wider principle at stake.

nellly · 10/09/2018 09:39

Yea sorry I agree with @Farahilda I think there should always be a back up plan for money fundraised and it should be explicit. Just arbitrarily deciding it goes elsewhere isn't right, there are many worthy causes

LangCleg · 10/09/2018 09:46

I gave particular women money knowing that it was up to them what they would do with it. This is the second thread trying to pressure and/or direct recipients. I'm not keen.

If I donate to someone who subsequently spends the money in a way I don't like, then I wouldn't donate to further fundraising by them. But I regard the donation as my relinquishing control over that sum of money and giving that control to the recipient. I don't really agree with pressuring the recipient to do what I want with surplus funds.

And, as Farahilda says, who is to say that all the donors would agree?

ShrodingersSturdyPyjamas · 10/09/2018 09:49

I have money to particular women or causes and trust that it will be used for that purpose or where they see fit.

I would happily crowd fund to assist those women who were sexually assaulted in jail by a man, due to insufficient safeguarding being applied for a known rapist and paedophile.

ShrodingersSturdyPyjamas · 10/09/2018 09:50

I gave money...not have money.

Although the money I do have will happily be donated to said crowd funder.

theOtherPamAyres · 10/09/2018 09:53

I want to build a fighting fund for women's organisations.

Repealing the GRA, rolling back the protected characteristic of 'gender reassignment' in the Equlaity Act, and challenging the government guidelines, EHRC, Stonewall and Gendered Intelligence, make take years.

There will be no surplus.

UpstartCrow · 10/09/2018 09:59

I agree with Farahilda and theOtherPamAyres.

LangCleg · 10/09/2018 10:03

I want to build a fighting fund for women's organisations.

This is very much what I would like to see.

SweetGrapes · 10/09/2018 11:02

Actually, yes, I would like a fighting fund too.

When I agreed upthread, the intention was not to put pressure on anyone to reallocate funds or retain control over any money I donated.

Worth checking if a lawyer wants to take the case pro bono.

Website for that here:

I definitely think those who have large funds they have not used should donate to other people in need. I have often thought while reading threads about new appeals on here why I never notice some people saying 'I'll donate a few pounds.'
