When did being kinky or having a kink become a thing?

I probably need a better noun than thing but couldn't think of one. Being a bit kinky used to be the stuff of Carry On films and nudge nudge wink wink type conversations. It maybe meant the odd sex toy or the stuff in the film 9 1/2 weeks. Now it seems to be used to cover antisocial often criminal sexual behaviour like exhibitionism and seems to be used to try and normalise sexual predatory behaviour.
Is it a generation thing or just a subsection of men who use the term? Can't recall anyone in real life talking about their "kink" but social media seems full of it and it seems to sometimes include paedophilia.

this stuff is all overlapping with lgb + the original ts (transsexuals) being hijacked by fetishists >> exhibitionism etc + paedophiles to push agendas which will benefit them

I agree and know some kinky gay people who seem to have bought into TWAW entirely. I guess for them it's about protecting sexual minorities and being "sex-positive" and for those who are older, reminiscent of the underground nature of the gay scene in the 70s and 80s when the police were raiding bars and kicking heads in, not marching at Pride and having Gay Police Associations.
So I do see where some of them are coming from. My personal views on cottaging for example aren't shared by everyone. But regardless of how special a little flower you might be, my opinion is that we all have to live together, that civilised societies with rules, rights, responsibilities and repercussions are the best way to live together, and basically getting your wang out and waving it around in the hope of a casual encounter with a stranger is not on in a public toilet, especially in the middle of the day.
