Interesting (and awful) on the effects of prolonged testosterone on a body that retains a uterus, vagina, etc.

I realise the sex drive in humans is powerful but it really has no limits when it has no limits.

Yes. I think this is where I differ somewhat from the Marxist view of sexual politics. I think a lot of taboos and customs around sex, even in societies that are exploitative, are meant to try and control that sex drive in one way or another. Maybe by sacrificing some parts of society, or making everybody repressed, or marrying people off at 12. All of which have downsides, but boy; unleashed it can have extreme effects even today, when we have so much more capability to control disease and pregnancy.
I think this is perhaps where the liberal progressive tradition goes wrong - they imagine you can do without not only laws, but social customs or social approbation, and people will just keep their most basic human drives under control.

Maybe we should look at some of the films he has starred in but then again, some things are best left to the imagination.

I did consider this, but decided against it. Goodness knows what my husband would think if he stumbled across that in my history.

I think it's probably the case that some people have a fetish around mixed bodies. maybe not even a fetish precisely but people can have some very odd attractions I think. I have heard of people, both men and women, very attracted to the idea of a female appearing body with a penis, but not really the opposite idea. But if it makes a lot of money in porn there must be a fair number I suppose.

I also agree with your earlier post 01.37 Goosefoot you make some really good points. Personally I am all for kink shaming and social approbation - when there are no limits there are no protections. Who suffers when there are no protections? Always the weaker party who are unable to protect themselves.

BUCK ANGEL IS 46? Wow. I'd assumed much older.

I like the way he's calling out the woke folk by saying transexuals are not the same as transgendered people.

I suspect he's a very troubled individual, but, at least seems brighter than the usual offering online.

I think it's really irresponsible to do procedures and give hormones in this way without there being proper long term aftercare being in place.

And I agree, Buck doesnt look at all like a healthy 46 year old man

Justhadathought · 25/05/2019 10:32

"Angel’s pornographic content was one of the building blocks that set the foundation for his future educational demonstrations. He broadened the industry's, along with its viewers', perception of sexuality and gender by popularizing transsexual male porn. He was unaware of the positive effects that he had on the community until after a few years into his work. With passing time, his work in porn evolved into advocacy"

"Nevertheless, the conversion of porn into an educational form was a tough task because of the stigma behind sexual content. Angel’s porn star identity made it difficult for him to express his ideas as he couldn’t speak on behalf of himself and that the industry did not know what to do with him either. Additionally, the hostility from the transsexual community did not contribute positively to his image as they believed he was fetishizing them"

As someone has already mentioned - so much of the trans things is connected to pornography in one way or another. And so much of gay male culture and the Queer scene revolves around, and is shaped by, it too.

Buck looks like someone who is trapped by, and living within, an artifice.
Serious personality disorder stuff. Weird!

Justhadathought · 25/05/2019 10:40

Altogether, Angel had three main objectives in which he wanted individuals to:

"Comprehend the fact that one’s genitals do not define your gender, nor who you are as a person”
“Learn how to acknowledge, affirm, and deal with your own individual gender and sexuality, regardless of identity”
“Have the ability to let go of social constructs in order to become more comfortable and self-accepting”

I don't think there is one of us here who would disagree with any of that. Isn't that what awe all aspire to? But to mutilate your healthy body in pursuit of these aims is madness.

SnuggyBuggy · 25/05/2019 10:42

It's always going to be better to learn how to be yourself

Justhadathought · 25/05/2019 10:51

I think there are fetishists for a body that is both male and female out there

The thing is the more you become absorbed into pornography the more you are susceptible to being shaped by what is portrayed. Porn creates sexual cultures, that perhaps didn't even really exist before. Porn teaches and trains people into what to desire and what to fixate upon.

Fetishes mean that you can no longer enjoy pleasure or satisfaction without that thing. That 'thing' dominates your life and your emotional and sexual responses. It is all so self perpetuating.

SnuggyBuggy · 25/05/2019 10:54

I think also it must be harder for trans men to be accepted as men, men aren't so conditioned to put their feelings aside and "be kind". I guess a lot of these individuals may feel more at home in the porn/fetish subculture

Buck Angel certainly seems to have gone for hyper-masculinity of the type featured in gay pornography. It must be permanent hard work keeping up with the role; the body posture etc involved in carrying off that look.

Can’t say that I’m surprised - they don’t even understand typical female hormones, let alone what happens when you mess with them. I’ve posted a lot about my years on GnrH analogues and how I’ve been left with symptoms that mimic hypothyroidism and normal thyroid results. Now my symptoms are bouncing from hypothyroidism to hyperthyroidism from one week to the next. They have no idea why or how to help, and they don’t really care. Took me ten years to get an endo diagnosis before all this, there’s only been about three years in the last almost 25 years where I haven’t been battling for help or diagnosis.
