Heads up.

TERFblocker inciting TAs to 'go after the advertisers'

I thought that the whole cis women thing was saying that cis women aren't really proper women anyway, and it's only really they type of women with penises that really matter/have a voice because they've had it so hard (no sniggering at the back).

Ereshkigal · 30/08/2018 10:23

I don't understand the 'Cis women are women' on terfblocker.

It's one of their trademark reversals to troll women. Pomo kids find it highlarious.

Hey, MNetters have been talking about the political issues like the recent David Challenor The Paedophile and Child Torturer Case, about how parties vet their senior members. We can not have that!

One of our lot has been caught up in it, because they thought it appropriate to employ David Challenor The Paedophile and Child Torturer and not tell their party that this might cause a bit of embarrassment. They were only trying to 'bond' with their father. We must stand by them no matter what, 'cos trans' and all trans people need love from their families.

In order to protect them, we need to pressure MN to shut up the evil wench mothers who might be a teeny bit concerned about their kids and force them to stop talking about the safeguarding issues that David Challenor The Paedophile and Child Torturer, being a high profile campaigner (with support from the 4th biggest Political Party) for the removal of safeguarding measures raises.

Cos this will be an enormously attractive and profitable plan for all these companies that we intend to approach.

Yes. This is a good strategy. Get on the case...

Hmm
ToeToToe · 30/08/2018 10:38

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - I make 90% of the purchase decisions in our household of 5.

I buy all the food and clothes, and the majority of the big purchases like holidays and cars.

Mumsnet is full of mums like me - and the advertisers know that.

ToeToToe · 30/08/2018 10:40

I even bought that Boden dress that was on Mumsnet Swears By a couple of months ago. It's very nice.

BiologyIsReal · 30/08/2018 10:41

Hmm. Amount of stuff bought by MNers from firms advertising. Millions and millions of £s worth.

Amount bought by TRAs - tiddly squat.

Discounting of course the few hundred pairs of high heels, lippy, padded bras, sanitary towels for "periods" by the more enthusiastic TRAs, the odd tutu and packets of glitter etc.

Money talks - MNers have more of it.

ToeToToe · 30/08/2018 10:41

And Yes to what RedToothbrush says.

April 15th 2018 Justine Roberts' interview with Sunday Times:

'Mumsnet founder Justine Roberts: Transgender activists try to curb free speech on site'
(extract)
The founder of Mumsnet says transgender “thought police” are pressurising advertisers to withdraw from Britain’s most popular parenting website because it allows the discussion of trans topics.

Justine Roberts said she had been approached by three significant advertisers who had been threatened by trans groups.

“Transgender activists have contacted Mumsnet advertisers and said they will be organising a boycott of their products if they don’t remove their advertising from Mumsnet,” Roberts said.

The website had told the advertisers that it “works hard to keep the discussions civil” and was determined to let them continue.

“What’s worrying to me is the thought-police action around speech and the shutting down of the right to be able to disagree and immediately labelling it as transphobic,” Roberts said.

The threats are the latest move in a campaign by transgender activists to inhibit discussion of potential legal changes that would allow people born male to self-identify as women.

Feminists say the plans threaten women’s rights and protected spaces. Trans activists say that to oppose them is bigotry. They have pressurised dozens of venues into cancelling meetings on the subject." (continues)

Charliethefeminist · 30/08/2018 10:46

I wonder what went on between Justin and Penny

ifonlyus · 30/08/2018 10:51

I've just taken my Ad-blocker off for Mumsnet too on our main PC where I access MN most.

Whenever I am going to buy anything or make a decision,I say 'I'll check mumsnet' because I know it attracts the most amount of people like me. I have clicked through on advertising links - on my phone - on many an occasion. I tend not to do that on any other site.

ToeToToe · 30/08/2018 10:53

On Terfblocker's twitter:

"They always ruin everything"

Yes - correct. We're ruining the influence of misogynistic and abusive males like David Challenor influencing political policy on safeguarding women and children.

Sorry about that.

heresyandwitchcraft · 30/08/2018 11:00

They keep sending people here by talking about MN...
Nobody would know about the feminist board otherwise.

Needmoresleep · 30/08/2018 11:02

Surely advertisers are wise to this. A year or so ago one of my more "woke" Fb friends was pushing some sort of advertiser boycott of the Daily Mail. Advertisers want to sell stuff, and will primarily interested in reaching potential consumers.

If they feel that the vehicle for their message has become tainted and that an association with that vehicle is not in their interests, like with Breitbart, or as happened when department stores dropped the Ivanka Trump lable, they will withdraw. But presumably Birds Eye are not so blinkered by PC that they cant understand why mums might be concerned the child protection issues around gender self-id and why mums want a forum for discussion.

Actually I think that MN's super stardom over protecting the right to free speech has done their image no harm at all and that their advertisers stand to benefit from association with the site.

SirVixofVixHall · 30/08/2018 11:07

I would imagine most of us at some point buy things either suggested by posters or advertised on here . I have bought all sorts of things, skincare, house things from John Lewis, stuff for my hair, Boden swimsuit, even my Polish bras which have transformed my bra life, were suggested by a mumsnetter .
Calling mumsnet a hate group. Unhinged !

R0wantrees · 30/08/2018 11:12

Charliethefeminist

Are you wondering about Justine Roberts and Penny Mordant?

Charliethefeminist · 30/08/2018 11:12

Yes, their meeting

R0wantrees · 30/08/2018 11:22

I was thinking about that the other day. I know Justine came back onto the thread to say that the meeting had a pre-established agenda so the many concerns that posters had collated would not have been discussed at the time. I was wondering what happened with the questions on the two threads.
The impression at the time was that Justine encouraged people to ask questions so they are important threads.

I also wonder if these might better be raised with Victoria Atkins MP who is specifically the minister for women as well as Nadhim Zahawi MP where the concerns are related to child protection given his ministerial responsibilities

Charliethefeminist · 30/08/2018 11:26

Yes, I was wondering whether Victoria Atkins' comments are partly due to that conversation.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 30/08/2018 11:29

I also buy the stuff for our family of 4 including cars, holidays, down to jam and cereals and labels for the school uniform.

I am very grateful to mumsnet for allowing these conversations I dread to think the shit they are getting.

Charliethefeminist · 30/08/2018 11:40

Yes I'm the spender in our house. My account is the one that empties and my credit card is the default, while my DH is the saver. My money, my choice. Also if I tell my children and husband to boycott, they roll their eyes but they do. Even top shop.

ShotsFired · 30/08/2018 11:44

@MrsTerryPratchett I have switched adblocker off Mumsnet. Just FYI.

I don't need to buy anything child or family related and I don't fit in Boden clothing etc, but still - @MNHQ I'm happy to disable my adblocker to stand with this cause too.

TERFblocker inciting TAs to 'go after the advertisers'
Sunkisses · 30/08/2018 11:53

OMG, advertisers only need to take one quick look at that Hailey Heartless twitter account (and most of the accounts of trans activists) to see what they are dealing with. Ouch, my eyes.
Support women talking freely about protecting children, or support sexual sadists who want to bully advertisers? Ummmm, touch choice. Adblocker removed, and will fully support MN.

R0wantrees · 30/08/2018 12:02

Yes, I was wondering whether Victoria Atkins' comments are partly due to that conversation.

Hopefully Victoria Atkins is at least in a position to receive briefings from a wider rage of sources.
I think that the nature of the department been 'Women & Equalities' the fact that there is a designated Minister for Women is important.

I would hope that other Minsters though are included where for example issues relate to Eduacation, Health, Children etc.
Its important that some of the issues are dealt with by the appropriate departments where there will be input from specialist advisers.

We have the 3650e 18 Litre model and we wouldn’t be without it. We have tried a few other brands which weren’t up to much but this has taken out cellar from a damp hole to a useable storage space.

This is the one we have www.ebac.com/dehumidifiers/3650e-18-litre-white-dehumidifier-di818wg-gb
