Reading an interview with actor Maxwell Martin in the observer's magazine and am appalled by her comments on the #MeToo movement. Women could deal with sexual harassment better if they had a sense of humour, there's too much of a 'moany' element.....did she think at all before spewing this crap?!

Ah, you mean ANNA Maxwell Martin.

Apparently, she didn't suffer any sexist/sexual abuse or crap because she was brought up by "nice parents".

Great way to insult the many women who have done and their parents there, Anna.

Whoops yes, completely forgot the Anna twice - I'm tired today!

The two paragraphs are simply dreadful - my jaw dropped reading them!

Poor ‘girl’, bit of a dose of cool womanitis there. Couple of paracetamol should fix that up a treat.

Some women choose to mobilise as a group, others choose to be that crab in a bucket that kicks all the other crabs back down.

I was raised by two nice parents but I don’t find myself unfazed by sexism and sexual harassment.

I was quite surprised that she didn’t seem to understand it entertain the notion that, while most of us (including #metoo activists) don’t feel that ‘having your tits touched’ is the same as ‘violent rape’, they surely both are more likely in a patriarchal society, which denigrates or subjugates women and teaches its citizens to consider women as objects. I don’t think it’s lumping it in together as she phrased it, to see them both as indicative of a great lack of respect for women. Obviously one is far more awful than the other but that doesn’t make them different in many other, significant ways.

Gosh that is pretty galling to read. She didn't think before talking, did she?

Doobigetta · 26/08/2018 17:55

I was quite surprised by that article. I’d had her down as one of the good ones, probably purely because she’s played some good roles. But actually she came across as quite spiteful, judgmental and the type to make every interaction with another woman into a competition.

SeaWitchly · 26/08/2018 20:57

Presumably women would also deal with pay inequaity better too if they were just less moany about it Hmm

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 26/08/2018 21:41

She sounds very immature about it. I remember feeling a bit like that aged 18/19. I thought that I was too much of a "strong woman" to fall foul of it.

Isn't she married to a much, much older man?

Nothing gets you published as easily as awoman criticizing women.
