Jonathan's written an article about the mysterious #StickerWoman

A mysterious activist, known only as #stickerwoman, is causing consternation in towns and cities up and down the country armed with these:

A brilliant way to re-frame this issue. Thank you again Jonny Best.

AdultHumanFemale · 23/08/2018 21:33

Thank you, Jonny! I haven't seen the stickers up and around, having mainly spent the summer in a field, so thanks for the pics. Looking forward to seeing the comments section!

Great article, thanks Jonny! I hope I can buy you two drinks (one for each article) if I ever meet you. In fact I don't think you necessarily need to pay for a drink again!

Ereshkigal · 23/08/2018 21:49

The comparison to Tatchell's own guerrilla activism is an excellent point well made.

Oh yes, and as Wanderabout alluded to, he needs to climb down on this.

So until I do a job lot on sticker paper at the weekend. Does anyone have any tips on getting the best "stick". Sellotape, glue (which type) etc etc? I have a few outdoor sites in mind (as well as plenty indoors) what should be my adhesive of choice for outdoors? Indoors I'm thinking sellotape is my friend but all suggestions welcome.
Also any "tips" on subtle sticking (subtlety never having been my strong point) welcome.....

TriptychTwins · 23/08/2018 21:57

Some people have been using double-sided tape.

Apparently they also spent a lot of time avoiding CCTV Grin

I've been using double sided tape, I found I only need about 2 cm of the thin stuff, it's holding my bits of paper up, a couple even survived the rain overnight!

MrsFogi · 23/08/2018 22:37

Will invest in double sided tomorrow. In the meanwhile I've realised I have some toupee tape (from my pre-dc days when I used it to wear clothes I could not even countenance now) and that stuff sticks like buggery....Wink

I hadn’t actually realised this:

Stonewall’s definition of transphobia:
The fear or dislike of someone based on the fact they are trans, including the denial/refusal to accept their gender identity.
The first part of this definition is uncontroversial. The second part is not. Stonewall defines gender identity as:
A person’s innate sense of their own gender, whether male, female or something else … which may or may not correspond to the sex assigned at birth.

So if you don’t accept TWAW you’re ‘transphobic’?

Destinysdaughter · 23/08/2018 23:02

He goes on to say

As far as Stonewall is concerned, anyone who is unwilling— or unable — to accept that any man can become a women by declaring that he feels like one, is transphobic. A bigot.

Wow

Ereshkigal · 23/08/2018 23:06

So if you don’t accept TWAW you’re ‘transphobic’?

Natch.

stillathing · 23/08/2018 23:08

The sooner everybody realises that they too are considered transphobic bigots the better.

Ereshkigal · 23/08/2018 23:08

I'm surprised only by certain people not fully realising what's at stake.

littlbrowndog · 23/08/2018 23:09

Admitting to being transphobic here according to stonewall
There we go

Ereshkigal · 23/08/2018 23:10

Stonewall have sold out anyone in the LGB if they don't buy into the transagenda

Ereshkigal · 23/08/2018 23:12

Me too littlbrowndog

Great article. Chuckled at the Liverpool going soft line. Love that city.

hooochycoo · 24/08/2018 00:31

I don’t dare join in but well done sticker woman. Maybe their should be a link to the government consultation on the stickers .

Charliethefeminist · 24/08/2018 01:05

Another fantastic piece. I love his pointing out (first time I've seen this) that we have been driven to stickers by the silencing. We are reduced to stickers, and part of the furious reaction is because even stickers have a huge impact. If we are pushed off mainstream media, we go to twitter and Facebook. Pushed off there, we have meetings. Harassed at meetings and no platformed in person, women are hardly going to throw their pinnies over their faces and give up. So right now we are doing this. The suffragettes pulled stunts, were jailed and force fed. There's a long way to go yet.
