Another gay man is coming out...

In support of women. It looks like some gay men are finally starting to get it and also to see how potentially homophobic the trans ideology is.

Destiny

Do it. I'm not on Twatter

Thanks also to Meghan Murphy for her continued awesomeness in running the internet corner of sanity that is Feminist Current.

It was not always smooth sailing for Meghan Murphy. Her original site she had was stolen out from under her (about 10 years ago, by handmaidens). She got a fair bit of flack for the first few (mildly) GC - perhaps questioning - articles she wrote there. We rallied around her and helped with comment support getting FC going. Then, even in the last few years, she has had flack from content providers about what she can and cannot post on GC matters.

So I just thought I would mention all that, to put it into context when all the praise gets heaped onto a gay man for writing one article, even though we have been at gay men to get with the programme for many years. Certainly the 11th hour support is appreciated, but the time is 11:59, and we have been waiting for some time.

TheotherPamAyres

Also really good. I'd say tweet that to OJ, but he'd dismiss it out of hand because it's written by a Conservative. OTOH he might like it because it's written from a gay man's perspective

NotTerfNorCis · 23/08/2018 14:25

I just saw this article. Good on him. Certain TRAs are already trying to get him into trouble with the Huffington Post. Even men risk their jobs for challenging trans ideology!

Oldstyle · 23/08/2018 14:27

Thanks for the context Ducking.
I have an inbuilt gratitude tendency - no problems with that, better than an inbuilt FO tendency - but people do need to be challenged, not only to speak out but also to follow through. Otherwise it's just a quick head above the parapet, receive the bouquets and disappear. I'm currently practising polite challenges, on SM and (harder) RL. It's going quite well although I might have to up the ante to impolite challenges in some instances. More gin first.

Echoing ItsAllGoingtobe

This just makes it all so clear that the Trans Activist theory of Gender is homophobic:

And this notion that we can overcome “genital preferences” is homophobic and erases our identities, as homosexual people. It doesn’t just echo the far-right conversion therapies so many of us have fought decades to end, it actively embraces these beliefs, as it implies we could become heterosexual if we just opened our minds and overcame our “preferences” for members of the same sex.

HavingALittleBabyToolshed · 23/08/2018 14:57

I’m glad this is happening.
I’m sad it has taken so long and that it needs men to say it before it has any credibility.

Popchyk · 23/08/2018 18:08

And who is the biggest supporter and driver of this whole rotten ideology?

Stonewall, that's who.

Popchyk · 23/08/2018 18:22

Jonathan Best on Twitter

"A man breaks cover and speaks out: @SkylarJordan this time. How many is that now in total? Are we into double figures yet??
Come on men. We're too fucking late to this. Let's get moving."

Knicknackpaddyflak · 23/08/2018 18:56

Good article, strong points clearly made. Thank you Skylar, I hate that we need men to start speaking out about this, but the fact is that we do live in a patriarchy and men get listened to. Usually without being threatened with rape and murder.

ToeToToe · 23/08/2018 22:15

OMG and so refreshing to see a man who really, really gets it.

THIS is the million dollar question. My view - based on my experience so far - is that the extreme trans women activists are pure misogynists. They want to be women, and when women say no to them, they explode in fury and loathing.

Morgane Ogre is on Skylar’s Twitter saying that to publish such words is illegal under BC law. What a country! Standing up for women and lesbians is illegal? How worke and progressive! Slow handclap for that self-declared feminist, Justin Trudeau.

SleepFreeZone · 23/08/2018 23:09

👏

Italiangreyhound · 24/08/2018 08:16

Good on him.

StealthPolarBear · 24/08/2018 08:24

It is telling his moment of revelation was when he realised what the impact would be on gay men. Still, good article

ToeToToe · 24/08/2018 09:12

It is a sad fact of life that people only tend to wake up to stuff when they realise it will impact them personally.

twitter.com/SkylarJordan/status/1032647629166051328

But here is evidence of a gay man being told he should, as a "queer" man (Skylar rejects the "queer" label) accept trans men (biological females) as men.

"I saw something the other day about how gay men and lesbians need to ‘unlearn’ their aversion to genitals of the opposite sex. It’s conversion therapy and textbook homophobia."

Will Stonewall finally accept this evidence of the inherent homophobia within the trans movement?

StealthPolarBear · 24/08/2018 09:16

True. I suspect I'm no different.

YeTalkShiteHen · 24/08/2018 09:19

It’s sadder yet that the world won’t listen until it’s high profile men speaking out.

hellandhairnets · 24/08/2018 09:25

Yep, good on him.

And yes, it's appalling that GC women have been saying this for ages and nobody has bothered to listen and has gone for abuse instead. I don't accept that reality as ok but we do have to be pragmatic about what will change things and garner support given that's the reality. If gay men start speaking out - especially left-wing ones like Jonny Best - it messes up the TRA narrative, and messing up the narrative is crucial.

I am beginning to notice other gay men speaking out over the last few days or at least asking the questions. I am getting the distinct impression - although it is very early days obviously - that things might be on the turn.

gendercritter · 24/08/2018 09:41

Absolutely brilliant article. It is such a relief and so refreshing to see men talking about this.

CesiraAndEnrico · 24/08/2018 09:49

this person isn’t too happy...

That person isn't ever happy.

A lot

All the time

They are the TRAs' very own Pootle + little black cloud. The only difference being Pootle was umpty for one episode, not every minute of the entire fecking series.

ZuttZeVootEeVro · 24/08/2018 11:23

CesiraAndEnrico. Grin

Knicknackpaddyflak · 24/08/2018 12:12

gay men and lesbians need to ‘unlearn’ their aversion to genitals of the opposite sex

How is that not conversion therapy? Has anyone seen any incoherent batshit trying to explain this? Please? Anything that might throw light on how someone could come up with this?

  • Doing ANYTHING but validating unconditionally despite any other circumstances or comorbid conditions affection the person is 'conversion therapy', it's a major TRA/Trans ideology obsession.

  • How the hell is it possible to believe that conversion therapy is evil for trans people but imperative for gay people? And how can you believe that it's appropriate to ask people to 'unlearn' their genital/sexual preference but not appropriate to ask people to unlearn their gender identity?

The cognitive dissonance must clang whenever they turn around.

Incidentally does anyone know (or want to do a research paper) on a diagnosable condition for people who are incapable of comprehending basic semantic meaning of words and distort them beyond any shared useful meaning? The bastardisation and inability to share meaning for words like 'woman', 'gender', 'sex', 'hate', 'conversion therapy', 'literal violence' etc provide vast amounts of evidence.

TransplantsArePlants · 24/08/2018 13:05

Ah Cesira. Thank you for the Flumps link. Takes me right back

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 24/08/2018 13:58

Hey Skylar double-barrelled posh surname

Really, judging him about his surname - you just knew anything else they had to say was going to be balanced and well considered Hmm
