How can I write an effective response to the GRA consultation?

I've just read the GRA consultation document (which is a poorly written, inconsitent crock of shit, but there you go) and I have no idea of how to write an effective response. The questions in the consultation make hardly any mention of how these proposals affect other people, so just answering the questions doesn't actually get the point across.

I intend to write to my MP from a safeguarding angle - I'm involved in some community groups where we need DBS checks etc. and this effectively removes any ability we have to check an applicant's history, and tramples over the rights of our religious communities. But who else can I write to? Penny Mordant (sp?) How do I get heard effectively? Any links or templates around?

The Fair Play for Women site has a guide to filling in the consultation & also some suggestions on how to spread the word.

OP, I am gonna post this as the general FYI I have picked up from this board:

If you can, see if it's possible to meet with your MP to discuss the issue face-to-face. This thread is excellent:

Posie Parker has a great video about meeting with people:

You may also be able to get some more information from the Transgender Trend website regarding the impact on children, specifically.

Woman's Place UK has resources for how to get involved:

And you can always join ManFriday Smile

This thread is GREAT for more "offline" actions

OP Fairplay For Women has some in depth guidance out currently, but will also have some simpler guidance coming out soon.

You can start your response and save it to continue and finish later.
Take your time you have until mid-October I think.

Absolutely this. I would mention this in the consultation too - women and girls need to be actually asked about and told about this in ways they can understand and in places they can see. The consultation is a total joke from that point of view.

FPFW guidance gets round this as best it can.
