William Lockhart Nelson

At its core, satire is designed to make us uncomfortable and show us the intrinsic flaws of our society. This clip covers everything regarding female objectification, sexism and racism in the arts. Having Tom at the end is the icing on he cake as it helps show how men aren't able to see any issues because they never face it themselves.

One of the comments. Fucking epic mansplaining. Grin

really William has the video just explained sexism and racism? Why thank you for that!

IDontEatFriedTurtle · 10/08/2018 10:31

Just reading the comments and apparently, the BBC didn't bother to name the black actress in the introduction. Ah the BBC. I only know Gemma Arterton and Catherine Tate of any of the other actresses/actor though so didn't notice it myself.

AnduinsGirl · 10/08/2018 10:31

Loved it!

mimivanne · 10/08/2018 10:50

I'm not on facebook so apols if the actresses names are listed there.

IDontEatFriedTurtle · 10/08/2018 11:20

Gemma Arterton, Catherine Tate, Gemma Chan Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey and Felicity Jones star in short comedy 'Leading Lady Parts'.

ijustwannadance · 10/08/2018 11:58

Brilliant.

womanspeaking · 10/08/2018 12:11

Thank you for making me laugh.

Charliethefeminist · 10/08/2018 13:39

No, don't like. Who drives this narrative white men. Who are the bad guys in the film - two women and a Bame bloke. Classic 'pretend to look woke while deflecting the blame on to women and minorities'.

Ekphrasis · 10/08/2018 13:50

True, I did wonder why it wasn't a Harvey W character. But I also wonder if GA was involved in the inception, and if CT had any involvement in writing it (or both).

Plus, they're v funny and if it were white blokes once again they've got the lime light.

Oh excellent.

IDontEatFriedTurtle · 10/08/2018 14:48

Classic 'pretend to look woke while deflecting the blame on to women and minorities'.

I assumed that it was written by them and they didn't want to give the main parts to white men.

thebewilderness · 10/08/2018 21:51

My first thought a that none of these women would do this, and then I was able to view it as them mocking the way men do. Kinda like Casting call disasters.

Datun · 10/08/2018 23:35

I like the double "MeToo" at the end.

Ekphrasis · 11/08/2018 07:05

I assumed that the casting directors had experienced these phrases, and probably everyone else too (except Tom)

Charliethefeminist · 11/08/2018 07:35

They could easily have got Robert Webb or that bearded one married to Victoria coren to make it funny. And actually satirical.

Ekphrasis · 11/08/2018 07:50

the point is this way>>>>>>>>>......

Ekphrasis · 11/08/2018 07:51

RW would turn it down knowing that he'd potentially be taking a women's job.

OP posts:
Slartybartfast · 11/08/2018 08:06

why funny?
bad
Interesting

Charliethefeminist · 11/08/2018 08:06

😂 But I don't think I missed the point though unless the point is to use humour to distract from the fact the BBC is blaming women for abuse by men

Truly brave sketch would confront people with their discomfort, not soften it

Ekphrasis · 11/08/2018 08:08

That could be an option but why can't these women own the sketch?
