Apologies to Sister Sojourner Truth for butchering her wonderful words.
Some of these men say that women need to wear dresses, and makeup, and be delicate little flowers.
But I have a strong woman's body and I don't wear makeup.
Ain't I a woman?
Look at me! Look at my body - torn and bruised, shamed and abused, giver of life and love, and I keep going every day.
Ain't I a woman?
My life isn't an identity to be worn and discarded when you please. I can't walk away from my suffering but I can stand tall because of it.
Ain't I a woman?
I can love who I want, work where I want. I live in a world that tells me I ain't never good enough.
But I am.
Ain't I a woman?
Those little men hiding behind their masks, sayings they deserve the name "woman" even more than me, where did they come from? Who do they come from?
Woman!
Women together can turn the tide back, and get the world right side up again.
