"When we united together, with common objectives, we can all win. Fundamentally, the message that goes out today is that we are united in our hope for a world of justice, not division.

"We’re united in our hope to end racism and misogyny. We’re united in hope."

Now, while this is a great message, how does it square with his stance on self ID, which is misogyny personified? He refuses to condemn the behavior of many transactivists which can be described as nothing else than misogynistic and homophobic realistically.

So while this is a decent message, it makes no sense at all to me, given his policies and what he supports.

People do like throwing words around don't they?

UglyCathKidstonBag · 14/07/2018 18:20

It is almost as though he means it.

Vickyyyy · 14/07/2018 18:22

I fucking wish he did mean it. I currently have noone I can vote for due to all of this nonsense taking in every party. Even if the Tories back down, which its looking like they might..I could not vote for them as a disabled person.

Don't they just.

“We’re asserting our right to demonstrate, our right to free speech, and our right to want a world that is not divided by misogyny, racism and hate.”
Fatuous platitude. What about women's freedom of speech including the women at Pride, and the writers of the Morning Star letter.

thebewilderness · 14/07/2018 18:34

Virtue signaling to the half of the population who just watched a tsumani of hate directed at 8 women who had the temerity to say no to men by holding up signs saying that Lesbians are homosexuals at Pride.

ConfessionsOfTeenageDramaQueen · 15/07/2018 06:39

Corbyn is about as dedicated to tackling misogyny as he is anti-Semitism - which is, not at all.

He is a dangerous man and because of the Conservatives' complete arrogance and ineptitude he has a serious chance of getting in (and I say this as a Conservative voter).

TrumpsToddlerTantrums · 15/07/2018 08:21

Totally disillusioned with Corbyn. He says placatory words. Bland, boring, ineffective, he has no authority over the Labour Party and he has no intention of changing any of the status quo. Typical male politician.

I had such high hopes when he was elected as leader.

RadicalisedPortal · 15/07/2018 08:34

But he stands silent as women are bullied and doxed online. He says nothing about bomb threats and womens' meetings cancelled. He gives women's jobs to males, he stays silent when letters are sent to people who have asked for violence against women to cease. He states he will meet and listen to women, but he doesn't. Words are cheap, what you do counts.

I voted for him the first time but now I see him for what he is. He doesn't care about women, he says words to get votes but his actions show a contemptuous attitude to females.

We are losing our sex based rights but Labour are gleefully giving them away.

Wrybread · 15/07/2018 08:45

If he believes that trans women are women, then he can day or and mean it whilst backing self ID. Personally that would give me cognitive dissonance, but he can probably justify it to himself.

I mean he's backed loosening the definition of antisemitism, which conveniently stops him from being accused of it by people who think his Facebook posts etc, cross that line

Wrybread · 15/07/2018 08:46

Say it, not "day or" Confused

LangCleg · 15/07/2018 09:22

Meaningless soundbites.

TrumpsToddlerTantrums · 15/07/2018 09:26

I don't even think it's as deliberate as giving our rights away, I don't think he gives women a single thought. He has his interests, I don't think he has a broad scope of ideas or an overall direction, he would give nodding acquiescence to whoever presented him with a convenient solution to "women", and we see who the loudest of his advisors are.

Bejazzled · 15/07/2018 10:17

It's just empty rhetoric to tick boxes. Utterly useless.

TerfsUp · 15/07/2018 10:20

Virtue signalling at its finest.

continuallychargingmyphone · 15/07/2018 10:22

He is trying to win over the ‘young’ vote, I think.

LassWiADelicateAir · 15/07/2018 10:42

I loathe Corbyn. I voted against him both times in the leadership elections. He is a dangerous, conceited, arrogant and vain idealogue who would be a disaster for the country if he became PM. That was obvious from when he first stuck his head above the parapet.

It would be funny if it weren't so tragic reading all the posts on MN about having high hopes when he was elected leader.

TrumpsToddlerTantrums · 15/07/2018 10:59

Lass After the 2015 election and the referendum I was so despondent about the state of British politics that I was pleased to see someone who said they didn't want to be a leader stepping up. My distrust of politicians was (and, unfortunately, still is) so low that I thought this could be a chance for back benchers to prove themselves.

Corbyn proved that he was right in saying he wasn't leadership material. He has become a figurehead; a caricature to be vilified by his opponents and the press and exalted by his believers. I'm disappointed because I had hope for such a short time. I don't hope at the moment, I've got to the stage where I am almost wishing the worst would happen, just to get it over with, to know where we stand: fucked economically, socially and politically. I want to be at that point where we can say "at least the only way is up", I am so over waiting for the boot to crush us.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 15/07/2018 11:59

I left Labour over Corbyn's useless leadership. He's not a grown up. He's more like a "right on" student politician than leader of the second most important party in the country.

If I hadn't left over that the anti semitism would have done it. But both pale into insignificance compared to his - and the party's - stance on women. But then the left has always been as misogynistic as the right.

Vickyyyy · 15/07/2018 12:47

I am one of those who had high hopes, and voted for him. I was so sick of conservative 'leadership' and Corbyn said all the right things and seemed to get uninterested people interested in politics through his passion. I went to one of his speech things and the atmosphere was like nothing else I have ever experienced.

However..I now accept I was totally taken in by bullshit and should have known better. he is just a politician like all the rest, also full of lies and misdirection. Except, so many still think he is the fucking saviour of the country while I genuinely find some of his views that have came to light since I voted for him quite scary. No way could i vote for him again, even while the Tories claim I am a parasite and such for being seriously ill.

I am very sorry you have been let down.

At the moment I can't see the Labour party ever being a party I will vote for again. Even if Corbyn goes he will simply be replaced by a younger , possibly even more extreme version.

I sincerely hope Labour loses the next election badly , which is the only chance of sense prevailing. If Labour win it will be a disaster for the country.
