This video of Kristina Jayne Harrison speaking is so helpful, and finally something I can share on FB!

My feminism includes all women and that includes all trans women.

Your feminism is male rage.

At last a well articulated common sense stance from a MtF that is aligned with GC women. Thx Kristina

Great video, and I'm glad I watched to the end because she calls for what I think is most needed in all of this - for trans people and women to get round the table as two oppressed groups and work out together how to go forward instead of allowing TRAs to demand that women give up their rights.

Gonna pee on the fireworks a little:
I've only watched 3 mins or so and I'm hoping I've got the wrong end of the stick- but it's prompted me to ask why it is that we should be ok with any male-born person in the changing room/doctor's room etc? Are we simply being petty- when someone's gone to all the trouble of surgery- to feel that we still aren't comfortable with them in a female space? Yes, the speaker passes but not all those who medically transition do and the only reason that this person does pass is because of intervention!! I strongly question the ethics of surgery in the first place! I question the whole issue of being "trans"- no-one is born into the wrong body and we shouldn't validate the belief that people are. Gender dysphoria exists- I don't dispute that but it's a manifestation of insecurities, surely? I dunno- am I missing something? Am I supposed to just wait until the slightly masculine woman has disrobed to discover that - phew!- they've transitioned? And further to that, am I supposed to then feel happy undressing in front of them..cos I'm not!! Does that make me a bigot?! My head hurts.

Yorkshirelass444 · 29/12/2018 18:31

Also gender dysphoria is s manifestation of unhappiness with gender expectations i.e. there are sociological, not biological, reasons for it.

JackyHolyoake · 30/12/2018 10:50

Question about "Gender Dysphoria":

If "GD" is "real", as presented in so many adult heterosexual males, how come it is never presented in adult heterosexual females?

Qcng · 30/12/2018 11:42

Jacky
There are thousands of young girls identifying as having gender dysphoria right now.

Of course gender dysphoria affects females, hetero females and also homosexual females.

Females are statistically less likely to develop a paraphilia such as AGP, however.

AGP affected males are now women according to Stonewall so that's the main problem.

Qcng · 30/12/2018 11:45

I think Jack Munroe famously had gender dysphoria for a while.
Stephen Whittle (prominent TRA) is female.

I suppose, thinking about it there aren't that many adult FTMs but there are many many young ones who will grow up to be adult FTMs with the next generation.

Trans people like who exactly? Some trans people are highly influential TRAs.

No, it in no way makes you a bigot. Many of us GC posters feel the same. No exceptions. Female spaces for women only.

recent thread demonstrated difficulties with transsexual/transgender/trans rights activist deliniation:

To @Yorkshirelass444 who said KH "passes"- I have seen KH in real life and it's not the case at all. And I agree with you. Not a fan.

happydappy2 · 30/12/2018 19:42

jackyholyoake great point, why is it that gender dysphoria is more prevalent in adult men, than adult women? Take out the new generation of young women thinking they are trans (for a multitude of reasons) why is it so many more adult men want to be women?

Purplewithgreenspots · 30/12/2018 20:20

Mr Quisling: the leader of Norway who happily handed his country to the Nazis. Not sure how it could be relevant here Hmm
