If you ever feel disillusioned about sexism in British politics, just remember that a female senator was told by a male senator to “stop shagging men” when she voted not to arm women with pepper spray and other defence weapons because men should stop raping women instead.
In a further twist, said male senator was then interviewed on Sky News with 2 other dinosaurs where he speculated on her sex life, and the female producer of the show was sacked after there was public outrage.

Unbelievable Angry

Well isn't he a treat.

thewitchofwentworth · 03/07/2018 22:48

This guy is only in parliament at all because about 5% of voters are too stupid to tell the difference between "Liberal Democrats" and "Liberal Party of Australia" and just ticked the first box that said Liberal.

LadyCassandra · 04/07/2018 00:11

He won’t back down. He was interviewed 2 days ago saying that he had nothing to apologise for. That she said “men should stop raping women” and this equates to “all men are rapists”. Oh, and then he called the Prime Minister a pussy for saying he should apologise.
As bad as it is over there, i can’t help thinking it would never happen in UK politics Angry

No, it is far more sexist here. Has the most prominent radio commentator in Britain advocated murdering the prime minister? That happened here: Google "Alan Jones chaff bag".

LaSqrrl · 04/07/2018 00:52

As one who has lived in both countries, I can assure you all, the sexism/misogyny is on a par in both countries - just that the expressions and manifestations are different.

Same (misogyny) shit. Different day.

AltheaorDonna · 04/07/2018 00:55

LaSqrll, I've also lived in both countries and totally agree. This appalling sack of shit doesn't speak for anyone I know, everyone I know is disgusted by what he said!

LadyCassandra · 04/07/2018 01:04

I think its the nerve of him to be so blatently publically sexist and unrepentant that has got me so riled up. But the less blatent and undercurrent sexism also gets me mad!
I agree, everyone I speak to is disgusted. I can't understand why he isn't being forced to resign. I think that is the difference with the UK. Someone would have made him resign there I think.
