AIBU to take DS to see Bridget Christie?

Was supposed to be going with dh who now cannot go, ds wants to come, and has read ‘book for her’. Other mate said it was a ridiculous thing to do and he would be humiliated and singled out. I think if he wants to come he can come. Would you take your teenage son to see a feminist comedian?

I’m not sure why you’re asking? He wants to go so why wouldn’t you take him? Who would humiliate him - Bridget Christie? I’m sure there will be other men there. Going to any stand-up show, you always run a small risk of being picked on by the comedian.

Oh he is going, like you say he wants to and I have a spare ticket

I am asking because I was genuinely shocked when a mate who is going called to ask if we should meet outside said that she though it would be terrible and humiliating for him. I can't fathom it. She said he'd be 'singled out' - I guess by BC.

Threw me a bit, that's all

I saw her in Brighton with a male partner. There were a lot of men, young and old, there. There was no calling out, not even to those in the front row if I remember correctly

Even if there was calling out I don't see her as someone who'd humiliate a teenage boy, I thought it was a weird POV.

Did you enjoy it?

There were lots of men there when I saw her. She didn't pick on anyone.
I would take my DS.

Yes, we both did. I think young people would too.

Very glad to hear that. I'll try and take my son if she's in our area again. She gets the feminist point across with a light touch.

I don't find Bridget Christie in the least bit funny (to be fair I don't really find any stand up comedians, including her husband, funny) but there is absolutely no possibility she would humiliate your son.

LassWiADelicateAir · 04/07/2018 23:16

Or any one for that matter just for being in the audience. It really isn't her style.

cansu · 04/07/2018 23:19

I have been to see her. She was great. There were plenty of men there and she didn't pick on anyone. I don't think that's really her style. However it depends really on how old he is. It really is quite adult and obviously feminist and not really aimed at young people so I am not sure he would find it that funny.

If he read the book and enjoyed it I'm sure he would enjoy the stand up ? Went to see her show and thought it was fab! She doesn't pick on anyone in the audience.
