Depression: 74.6% diagnosed at some point, 52% diagnosed currently (75% of which are currently recieving treatment)

Anxiety: Very similar numbers to depression

PTSD: 25% diagnosed at some point, 10% current diagnosis

Personality disorder: 20% diagnosed ever, 10% current diagnosis

Psychosis: 16% diagnosed ever, 2% current diagnosis

Eating disorders: 22% diagnosed ever, 6% current diagnosis

Autism: 22% diagnosed

80% self harm
50% attempt suicide

The report breaks these numbers down which is quite interesting there seems to be higher numbers of for eg sexual abuse and family abuse

You can download the report here: www.telethonkids.org.au/our-research/brain-and-behaviour/mental-health-and-youth/youth-mental-health/trans-pathways/

What I don't understand is why given all these horrific stats, trans is assumed to be the cause of all of these issues, rather than these issues being the cause of a young person believing they are trans? Surely young people are being done a massive disservice by people assuming that trans is the answer to all of these problems...

I agree it's either belief in trans ideology and adherence to it makes you suicidal, depressed, self harming, eating disordered, etc etc (obviously it wouldn't make you autistic). OR that people who suffer from depression, body insecurity, self harm tendencies etc etc are attracted to trans ideology because it offers an alter ego, a solution to body insecurity and special I'll treatment and lots of attention.

Also, if young transgender people really are more likely to suffer these comorbidities, where is the evidence that affirming their belief about gender helps these? Does it create the comorbidity or prevent it?

It is very concerning that the only current acceptable response is affirmation.

Johns Hopkins stopped doing the surgeries, because there was no difference in outcome (however, I believe they started doing them again, so wtaf)

I think it more that people suffering these various things are either attracted to, or 'guided into', the T thing. Not exactly responsible mental health care.
