This sounds all too familiar. As are the very predictable, script-like comments on social media Hmm

If I ran a football club I'd make it clear in all staff contracts that anyone involved in any kind of degrading treatment of women (in the manner of Ch#d Ev#ns and friends) would be sacked. Whether or not they are found guilty of any actual offences. And I'd run lots of compulsory training courses about consent and sexism.

Not at all assasinated the people who need the training are the women, obviously. They forget that if you are near a footballer/rugby player you should expect someone to have sex with your vagina, at least one person, probably a few of them in reality. It’s common sense. What did these women expect to happen Hmm

Yes, Assainated. Plus I'd have zero tolerance of any drugs and drunkenness too. (I say drunkenness rather than teetotal, in reality I'd expect very limited alcohol intake but accept occasional celebrations). They are, after all, meant to be professional athletes. Andy Murray is teetotal, because for years he has been totally committed to his training regime. Most athletes pay very close attention to diet etc, rigid self discipline due to demands of training. Why so different for footballers? For every one that makes the team there are probably dozens of high class players that would love the chance. They should be given the chance if the ones that are there cannot commit to certain professional standards of behaviour as athletes and ambassadors for the sport.

Assassinated

I can think of lots of jobs where bringing the company into disrepute by, for example, posting something contentious on social media, would cost you your job.
So I'm surprised there isn't already a clause like that in their contract.

Is it optimistic of me to think those sorts of clauses might become more common in light of these recent cases?
