Long time lurker here...

Just a funny story...but....

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5837467/Ingenious-brickies-wear-summery-skirts-dresses-health-safety-rules.html

Hmmmm...men would never use something to their own advantage?

(If my link doesn't work maybe someone more experienced could fix it)

Love it!

"Boiling builders who were told they were not allowed to wear shorts while working in 26C heat managed to keep cool by wearing skirts.

The brickies - who were working in Chertsey, Surrey - were horrified by new health and safety rules forbidding shorts.

But when they realised they could get around the ban by wearing women's clothing thanks to gender equality regulations, they showed up for work in skirts and dresses."

They look better than i do in dresses Grin

I cant see this going down well though. Men in dresses who call themselves men in dresses.. . It's seen as a piss take usually isn't it?

EmpressOfSpartacus · 13/06/2018 07:16

Brilliant Grin.

Kyanite · 13/06/2018 07:18

I saw someone post in a Facebook group yesterday that the idea of a man pretending to be trans in order to gain access to vulnerable women and girls was bizarre...and yet here we have brickies wearing women's clothes just to cool down.

Kyanite · 13/06/2018 07:26

They really are men in dresses though...they're not claiming to be women.

There is no requirement for transgender people to believe themselves to be the opposite sex (it's a sense of gender) and nowhere in law does it say that they are the opposite sex...only trans ideology says that.

TimeLady · 13/06/2018 07:31

I can't imagine why anyone would be offended by this - it's just clothes, ffs. Good on 'em.

However, I hope they chose ones with pockets.....

54321go · 13/06/2018 07:35

The kilt is traditional in Scotland, which admittedly is nowhere near Chertsey.
The prospect of a builder up scaffolding in a kilt may be worrying for some however.

Also in The Sun www.thesun.co.uk/news/6514743/builders-wear-skirts-on-development-site/

CarlGrimesMissingEye · 13/06/2018 07:48

They're like Ronseal and do what it says on the tin. Just a man wearing a dress. It's only 'society' that declares a dress or skirt a woman's clothing.

Buggered · 13/06/2018 07:52

The prize for the most tenuous trans thread of the day goes to.......

Hideandgo · 13/06/2018 07:54

What point exactly are you trying to make OP?

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 13/06/2018 11:33

This is a really stupid stunt, and their employer is misunderstanding the rules. No woman would be allowed to work on a building site in a dress either. She'd have to wear trousers. It's about safety, not sex.

No doubt someone knows the actual regs.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 13/06/2018 11:34

Weird thread for FWR.

SlothSlothSloth · 13/06/2018 12:29

What is this ridiculous comment? I can’t tell if it’s a joke? The two things are not related in any way. These guys can wear “women’s” clothes if they want, and in fact it should be encouraged.

SlothSlothSloth · 13/06/2018 12:32

Sorry Kyanite - just saw the other comments by you and realise I must have misread this one!

I like this move - especially by men in a traditionally masculine profession. Hope we soon see much more of the same.

onedayiwillmissthis · 13/06/2018 13:24

Oops...sorry if I upset anyone...Iat first read I found this story amusing...I have absolutely no problem with men wearing 'dresses'...surely it's only in western society that we label these type of garments for women only.

So...I smiled and thought 'good on em'...they worked the system.

But then I thought about all the times I have read people saying that 'men' (not trans etc) wouldn't use any Self-Id for any dodgy reasons and I thought....hmm...yes...some would.

So for me...it's not necessarily about stopping trans women entering female spaces...it's about keeping men out.

Nah! You didn't upset anyone, really! You just gave someone a chance to have a moan!

Men in dresses is absolutely fine, thanks for the lighter side of life reminder Smile

OfTheXXClass · 13/06/2018 13:51

People of the XY class formally known as males or men, (alas I can't name them anymore correctly as it seems to be a reason to delete posts),wearing comfortable clothing, good for them.

ALittleAubergine · 13/06/2018 13:58

That's funny Grin I like how they describe the dress, none of that usual nonsense, just '£10 dress from supermarket'.
