How can the NHS cope?

Hi all, I haven’t seen any threads regarding how the NHS can cope with the explosion of demands for trans treatments, but do correct me if I’m wrong - I’m new, have only been lurking for a few months. Also I won’t be responding til this evening as I will be out all day, so apologies for that. I have a lot more to say!
But I will out myself as working in the NHS and I really worry about the implications in lots of ways. It’s not even on the radar in my little backwater.
Here is a link to an article in the telegraph earlier this week.

Unlike James Palmer I definitely don’t see it as a good thing. My own area has another £6m to save next year, is making further cuts to IVF treatment and I’m sure there are plenty of Mumsnet users who have been denied nhs fertility treatment. Dr Christian has campaigned vigorously for PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis to prevent HIV), and also for HOV vaccines for boys (which I support and is denied for cost reasons). HCAs working in our community area are being “asked” to take a pay cut. Another thread this week discussed cuts to sexual health and contraception services. I could go on, perhaps better not, I’m angry and in a hurry!

It’s not just the post surgery/ hormones regret we have to worry about. Current screening guidelines mean that transmen will not be offered cervical or breast screening regardless of whether they retain cervix or breasts - this will lead to late cancer diagnoses.
Transwomen with prostate cancer may also suffer delays if they ‘pass’ because all record of them being male has to be removed from their records. Similar picture with transmen / ovarian cancer. I find this deeply worrying and feel it will worsen health outcomes for trans people.
Medical professionals are being forced to collude with biological lies and this is to the detriment of all health conditions related to biological sex

I sit on many budgeting committees for the London Hospitals as as yet have never heard of Guys doing this surgery so please enlighten me so I may take this up with the relevant people.
Surely you should have sufficient resources to find out on your own if you choose not to believe the worker bees experience.

My 5yo DD was very delayed, massive stammer interfering with day to day stuff and making her miserable.
If referrals are taking longer due to extra demand then yes it is affecting children.

So in your case that would be a referral to a paediatric speech therapist. Nothing to do with the speech therapists who see adult trans people or the waiting list.

Of course male to female trans teenagers who transition earlier and avoid the effects of their natal hormones will usually have no need for speech therapy.

I checked various NHS websites, can't see anything about Guy's doing SRS.

They do say sex is 'assigned' at birth. Why can't they get that right? Using this verb, with an implication of randomness/decisions made by others, contributes to the 'biology is a social construct' view.
