This was always the danger of passing Public Health issues to councils as a matter of discretion. It's not surprising tho' as a survey in Jan 2018 reported that 46% of councillors who are the designated lead for Children's Services reported that they don't have enough money to meet their statutory duties. Sexual Health was always going to look like an attractive service to run down...

I think 2019 has the potential to be a mess on a scale that people will find hard to believe. Councils have been hobbling along and hoping that something drastic would happen so these cuts to essential services wouldn't be necessary but they've run out of options.

We have a very odd demographic of very old neighbours who are dying out to be replaced by new householders who are disproportionately young families. There's a huge need for support services from the councils that just can't be met if these restrictions continue.

Abusive men are going to love it. Incidents of reproductive coercion will increase.

If unwanted children are born it will increase the pressure on Childrens Services which are also being cut (there was also some news item a while ago about Childrens Services possibly being privatized.

Yes! It's particularly frightening because I've just been wading through a report on what a universal disaster Community Rehabilitation Companies have been in tackling domestic abuse, preventing re-offending, or even monitoring violent offenders.

So fed up with these anti women policies.

I'm not a HCP, or in public health. I've always been able to access contraception either because I have money, or because I have lived in areas where accessing it was possible (although for a period I actually travelled back to my parents when I needed my pill refill, because no local surgeries had room on their lists).

Contraception needs to be easily accessible. It saves women's lives.
