a beautiful piece by the wonderful Anne Enright. Thought it was worth sharing, particularly with any of you who have fundraised, donated or volunteered with ASN, or who have personally assisted Irish women in need. Flowers

Nice article Smile I am smiling at this massive win for Irish women's rights.

Just coming here to post this - such a lovely article. They also have an interesting piece about periods:

Maybe they've remembered that women's biology is important after all.

ToeToToe · 28/05/2018 18:52

It's important to biological women, you know, the ones who actually experience female biology Wink

Thank you Anne. I hope this gets right up the noses of those ignorant idiots who signed the "Brit terfs/Brits in general out" letter. I also remember the 80s and 90s when the journey was harder for Irish women travelling for abortions - no internet or cheap flights- and when they were supported by networks of Irish and British women working together. I know stories that aren't mine to share, that involve favours from strangers, lifts and beds offered, kind words and sympathy at the Catholic bullshit that treated Irish women this way. Thanks to our sisters everywhereFlowers

Lovely article

We're cheering loudly here (well, there, I'm not in the UK right now) - even as some on Twitter get miffed because the people cheering don't agree with them on everything.

Really good article.

Someone's said it before, but I was at school when the Berlin wall fell, and there's a similar upswelling of feeling from people in this (to my school-girls' heart at the time) - it feels like a fantastic move forward, and I won't be brought down by people telling terfs to get lost - although I will knuckle back down to pitch in and win those same rights for the women of NI.

DisturbinglyOrange, I was at University when the Berlin Wall fell, and unlike today, we were fairly cut off from the 24/7 news then.

I still remember the exact moment someone ran in and told us all, and we went to watch the news on someone's TV (I din't even have a TV till halfway through my 2nd year Grin It does feel the same sense of hope, of walls coming down - you're right.

What a lovely article.

My faith in human nature was restored this week, after wondering how such an archaic sitation remained.

Great article and highlights the need for reform now in NI.
