Men justifying buying sex from children in the Dominican Republic

This came up on my newsfeed. Poor teenage girls selling sex to vile old white men who justify by saying that the girls are poor and if they don't sell their bodies, there'd be no tourism. I don't understand why these sick fuckers aren't arrested as soon as they arrive home again

I think there have been arrests of men going to Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. There needs to be co-operation between the home land police and overseas police , which does seem to happen in these destinations.

DP and I went to the Dominican Republic back in 1999 when it was first beginning to open up to tourism. Everywhere we went there were young girls trying to get business from him. It was very sad to see as they were clearly desperate. Subsistence living and clearly white men coming in had shown them a way to make more money then they otherwise could ever make. We went to a club one night and every time I got up to go to the toilet literally before id taken 3 paces away from him there was a woman sitting on either side of him trying to get business, desperately clawing at him in some cases.. It was horrible and needless to say DP found it terrible too. These were young women but werent children i wouldnt have said but it was still horrible, seedy and desperate. Any western man that goes over and does that is a terrible, abusive predator with no morales imo, and that's just with the young women.

The Sexual Offences Act 2003 enables British citizens and residents who commit sexual offences against children overseas to be prosecuted in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.[68] Similar provisions are in force in Scotland under the Criminal Law (Consolidation) (Scotland) Act 1995.[69] Some of the offences carry penalties of up to life imprisonment and anyone found guilty will be placed on the Sex Offenders Register. There are in 2013 two British citizens in jail following trials based on this legislation, Barry McCloud and David Graham.[70]

From wiki. So a man who has had sex with children anywhere in the world can be prosecuted but doesn't look like many have been

Wasn't one of the big charities trying to justify the use of sex workers by its employees abroad? Think it was Amnesty but I could be wrong. Still, what a tangled moral web to weave.

It was the Red Cross. And Oxfam. And Plan International.

And Save the Children also had a similar scandal.

IAGTBF

Thanks - hadn't realised the rot had spread quite so badly. The Times often lets the dust settle a bit before revisiting its campaigns - with the bonus, in this instance, of being able to hit Labour types who went into the charity sector after the 2010 defeat - so I suspect we've not heard the last of this.

Amnesty of course completely supports the rights of men to lose prostitutes and wants to legalise it globally.

I would imagine it might be quite difficult to prove and presumably needs the co-operation of local police. It's better that the legislation exists than it doesn't but successful prosecutions might be difficult.
