Just thought I'd share as it's great to see a young man (who probably has a lot of young people following him) wearing what he wants. It's a shame he gets stick for it.

Sorry I realise this is probably a bit lowbrow for feminism chat, but as I said he will probably have a lot of millennial (or is it generation z?) fans.

Generation Z me thinks. Very stylish he is to! Thanks for sharing the link.

Not lowbrow - it is what we are in favour of in fact. People ignoring gender norms and stereotypes and doing their own thing. I think Jayden's stance on this is right, I wear a dress, get over it.

I think both the Smith kids have very interesting fashion styles and I enjoy seeing what they wear. Good for them for pushing gender boundaries without leaping over the edge.

AngryAttackKittens · 09/05/2018 11:32

I am 100% in favor of men wearing skirts or dresses if they want to. The kid is pretty stylish, much like his dad.

(The later version of his dad. The mid to late 80s contained unfortunate fashion moments for many of us so I don't hold that against Will.)

Urgh he gets right up my nose. He took his golden disc, framed, to the met gala red carpet. Him wearing a dress is fine, him being a giant knob, isn't.

My oldest does a bit of a Jaden Smith aesthetic when he goes out. Kilts and leggings being a particular favourite. I think they both look great!

LaSqrrl · 09/05/2018 12:14

Wear dresses, fine. Just stay out of female spaces. Simples.

“Man who is an entitled pretentiously insufferable twat wears clothes” would have been my choice of title for this thread

kesstrel · 09/05/2018 12:36

Men have historically sometimes worn "dresses" in this country (medieval period especially) and still wear "dresses" in hot countries.

SewSwiftly · 09/05/2018 14:52

A good example to show boys can like typically female things. Harry Styles springs to mind as his tour outfits are often sparkly and sometimes pink.

What a fuss over nothing. I can remember when David Bowie wore a dress on the cover of his album all the way back in 1971. We did wonder for a minute if he was a boy or a girl, then we just moved on with our lives.
