Fun new game: TERF translator

Here's how to play. Find examples of people using the word 'TERF' and replace them with the true meaning of the word, which is of course: 'women who say things I don't like.'

So I'll start, here's a fine example:
"Release the hounds on this councillor Lily. Every TERF needs to be hounded out of politics and business and educated"
Xyrcoups tweet 6 May 2018

Translation:

"Release the hounds on this councillor Lily. Every woman who says things I don't like needs to be hounded out of politics and business and educated"

Lots of great material for this game available, doesn't need to be from twitter though there's plenty there.

Word has gone round that women's rights are anti trans, so the new framing will replace the old and the old will go down the memory hole.
Until people make the connection to men declaring throughout history that women's rights are anti men. Then they will find a new frame for their dominance dance.

I've only ever been called a misogynist on this board, for expressing a view many liberal feminists agree with Hmm

It seems some feminists are very happy to apply labels to others, yet are very unhappy to have them applied by others.

I only dip into this board to read opinions on major issues and hear a side I might not get elsewhere. I don't entirely know what I think of the current gender identity debate. It seems inordinately hard to strike the right balance.

'I want to literally murder women who saying things I don't like. This isn't the sleep deprivation and general anger caused by frustration and illness talking. I mean it'

you may be interested in Catherine Bennett's article, www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/apr/29/violent-misogyny-not-confined-to-internet-incels

The #ManFriday 'gallery' which is linked below the comment:

"The not-remotely funny thing is, it is these women and transwomen who are being removed from office, interviewed under police caution, verbally abused, threatened, intimidated, shoved, beaten and surrounded by baying mobs of these terrifying TRAs. This is not a few crazies sounding off on Twitter. This is real.

To our politicians: will you speak up now against this avalanche of violent misogyny? If not, why not?"

That is not what this thread is about.

It seems some feminists are very happy to apply labels to others, yet are very unhappy to have them applied by others.

Nor that either. Hmm

Do I need to draw little diagrams, with stick figures, and yanno, point out all the frickin death and rape threat parts?

This is not the thread for your ego. This thread is specifically to expose the violence inherent in male transgender activism. It's not a debate, so please refrain from derailing.

LaSqrrl · 09/05/2018 09:22

Ereshkigal I took ARM's interruption as a sign we might be onto something here - and he felt the compulsion to swoop in, and tell us we are Doing Feminism Wrongâ„¢

He could at least troll on point. He may as well have done a post about marshmallows, for the amount of relevance he interjected.

Ereshkigal · 09/05/2018 09:41

Quite!

AnotherRandomMale · 09/05/2018 09:56

I thought it was about TERF being a slur, but opinion duly noted.

Wanderabout · 09/05/2018 09:59

The thing is, the TRAs are already on top of the rebranding because they tend to now say "Anti trans activist" rather than TERF.

Good stuff. Still plenty of TERF to translate.

And a new game. 'Anti-Trans Activist' translates as 'pro-women's rights' - e.g. Mayday for women were handing out pro-women's rights leaflets at the football ground.

The two are closely connected, as you can see by reading the examples on this thread.

Yes, but mainly about exposing the violence inherent in 'trans activism'. As we see, there is about to be another shift, rebranding, where they will just use ATA - but the same violent comments will be attached to that.

Stand by for 'I wish all ATAs would DIAF'.

ATA could be replaced by WRW (woman's rights woman), could it not?

LaSqrrl · 09/05/2018 10:13

should be 'women's rights woman', doh!

Wanderabout · 09/05/2018 10:29

Could be but best to replace with words someone unfamiliar to the jargon would understand.

It's not surprising that you've decided to skate over the threatened violence against women which is the subject of this thread.

Ereshkigal · 09/05/2018 11:08

Boys will be boys, it seems.
Right now sitting here, wondering why on earth I don't want to share spaces with these people. It's so hard to articulate.

YY, I can't imagine!

Ereshkigal · 09/05/2018 18:51

Was reading an old thread posted elsewhere and came across this. Rather appropriate I felt! On the theme of "Women who say things I don't like should die in a fire"

sianandcrookedrib.blogspot.co.uk/2014/06/die-in-fire-and-my-own-experience-of.html?m=1

Wanderabout · 09/05/2018 19:57

Wow Ereshkigal that gives some context to the language being used, doesn't it?

OP posts:
Ereshkigal · 09/05/2018 20:54

Definitely.

thebewilderness · 09/05/2018 22:22

They depend on us not to know the history of men burning us to death in everything from Sati to "the burning times" to acid attacks, I suppose.

LaSqrrl · 10/05/2018 10:48

I used to read Sian's blog a very long time ago, but she slurped some Kool Aid, and I left. I am glad to see she came to her senses.

I said on another thread to SMG that more women are waking up and coming over to the GC side. It is very true. We are not losing numbers to the cult, it is the cult who are gradually losing numbers.

Perhaps 'DIAF TERF scum' isn't really the best PR? Wink

7YearsOfBlood · 07/10/2018 16:59

Just been linked over here from another thread (the LM one).

I try to do one of these every day on Twitter (with the hashtags #fixinghatetweets and #saywhatyoureallymean) but it can get quite depressing sometimes. Often I just straight up report the ones inciting violence.

I've since learned about T*RF bangs, which I find odd because I'd associate a very short fringe with the rainbow hair pronoun crowd rather than women Hmm
