How do I protect myself please?

I am not following most of the Trans threads at the moment because the whole movement is so concerning and disturbing, I had to step away.

However, I am aware that there has been a data breach and I would like to know how to check that my data is safe and to protect myself against future breaches.

Can someone guide me as to what to do - where to check if I'm involved (doubt it), whether to deregister and register etc.

I'm sure the info is already out there but I don't want to read all the threads as I'm finding this awful ideology so undermining that my sense of wellbeing is being affected, even just reading about the valiant efforts being made by so many women to put a stop to the nonsense.

The four mumsnetters concerned have been contacted I think. The ex mumsnet employee has apologised and relevant people have been notified. MumsnetHQ minimised the issue but are doing all the right steps.

The breach appears to have been quite limited and solely focussed on scaring women away from discussing the impact of trans issues on women.

If you are concerned about future breaches you need to create an anonymous email account that does not contain your real name, re register with that and ensure you don't complete any of the personal info in your profile. You can ask MN to delete all posts made by your current profile.

Be careful how much personal info you share in posts, someone searching on a username can put all those snippets across multiple posts and years together. If you are very concerned about being traced but want to continue to use MN you could create a new profile every year or so.

If you're a tech doofus, note that when you have changed your email address you will then need to check the new email address for a confirmation message from MN.

Not that that took me a while to realise. Definitely not.

Don't know if you can retroactively protect information you have already given but this is a very involved guide of how to stay safe going forward.
