The Guardian: I'm boycotting it

I've been reading the Guardian since I was 16, so that's 40+ years — and now I'm boycotting it. Every week there seems to be a pro-trans article on the front page of the online version and not a mention of the difficulties WPUK are having holding perfectly legal meetings to discuss changes to legislation. All power to Hadley Freeman and the other feminist staffers trying to raise the issue but it's too little and too late.

I'm looking for an alternative news source and for the first time in my life I'm actually considering the Times or the Telegraph, neither of which have been allowed over my threshold till now. I'm told the FT is good source of well-researched news but I don't think I can afford it.

Any other Mumsnetters in a similar situation? Any recommendations? I don't even want to click on the Guardian on line: it's dead to me and I'm not going to forgive and forget this betrayal.

Oh! And they have an ‘ageless style’ section which is trying to bring women from middle age and up back into the spotlight, as humans, as valued people and as inspirations. It’s lovely that they refuse to ignore such a huge demographic.

Morning Star.

Hard to understand why anyone would trust the times after the misreporting about Muslim foster carers, that’s before you even get to the Murdoch issue! I really like the Guardian, the long read is usually excellent, there was a great one recently about how unpaid internships cut off access to journalism, broadcasting to young people who don’t have family money or other resources. Also like it’s lifestyle section, particularly Sali Hughes and enjoy Hadley Freeman and Mariella Frosthup

Have never liked the Guardian but I'm not really a leftie
I find it so pathetic and find myself shouting oh ffs
Glad more people are realising it's some stupid hipster beard club

I like the long read but apart from that I rarely visit the Guardian these days as it pretty much jumped the shark years ago by pursuing a click-bait based advertising policy. Some of the utter halfwits they have commissioned to write piss poor pieces devoid of any research or facts is actually quite embarrassing. Plus, as alluded to here already their editorial policy of either ignoring or playing down news stories that don't fit with its agenda basically prevented the Guardian from being treated as a serious newspaper.

OTOH

Hadley Freeman - good

Windrush investigation - good

So many pieces on Trans issues , mainly having a go at gender critical women...then the comments are closed down very quickly so we don't even get a chance to reply... So bored of hearing narcissists align themselves with L and G struggles.

It's so sad; it's my tribe, part of me. The Observer IS Sunday but there comes a point when it's just not ok to see whole debates ignored. There will always be some great writing in it but I will read that online and find a more balanced view elsewhere besides, everyone know the Telegraph cryptic crossword is easier than the Observer

I was a fan and was planning to pay. Recently I've changed my tune. No way will they be getting a penny from me. I've peak Guardian-ed on a whole lot of issues.

Sorry Pickling I didn't see that you had posted the same. The comments are very muddled/mixed.

Funny aside, I just looked at my Guardian user account and noticed my user name is fedupofbiasedjournos registered September 2009!

Nothing new to see there then.
