Women's Beach volleyball taken over by non-surgically transitioned males - could it happen

After watching some of the beach volleyball in the commonwealth games yesterday I became worried that women would be usurped in this sport now that marathon running and weightlifting have been conquered. What do others think?

Well, in theory every single women's sport there is could be dominated by males because you only need one to enter the sport, and it's very easy for them to rise to the top and become dominant / impossible to beat. It's quite an attractive option for mediocre males.
But this is fear-mongering and I think I this sort of comment gets deleted now!

If anyone is interested in the possible (perhaps unintended) consequences for women and girls of changing policies to be more inclusive for transgender people the very best thing to do is to look at the rules and policies. I would presume that Beach Volleyball, like all sports, will have a regulatory body. There will likely be a policy statement published.
I think sport is a really important area to ask , 'what about women and girls?' and to find out what measures are in place to ensure that inclusion policies also have impact studies attached. The voices of women and girls who lose their places or quietly withdraw need to be heard and considered as well...
When people compete within rules as they stand, those individuals should not bear the brunt of frustrations ( its self-defeating anyway) however new rules as implemented by Swim England and the Girl Guides may be ill thought out or faulty and so it is important that questions, where appropriate, are asked.... directly to those who are making policy.

For anyone with an interest in Beach volleyball this is probably a good place to start finding out... www.volleyballengland.org/about_us/equality_and_diversity/equality_policy

I'm a Volleyballer (not beach), I played on national level (not in the UK) for a few years.
I played a lot of mixed social Volleyball as well and it is really hard for women to compete with men especially in the attack positions which is why in most mixed teams the women are playing as setters. There is a difference in net height (2.24 m women, 2.35 m mixed, 2.43 m men) and it's difficult to attack at a higher net and it is tiring as hell to have to put so much more effort into every jump throughout a game. Men have the advantage there with being able to jump higher (on average) and having longer reach (again on average). On the lower net a male player will totally dominate.

I'm not sure it's useful to speculate about individual sports on a hypothetical level.

My eyes would be on the International Olympic Committee's guidelines, should they be updated.

Igneococcus Interesting point about the different net heights in volleyball.
