I sympathise with the difficult line that the organisers of this event must be treading and it would perhaps be unfair to cause them any more headaches than they will likely have to deal with anyway, but it might be interesting to ask them how, if at all, they intend to police their policy that only male bodied people who FULLY identify as female may attend link.

"........sadly that means that anyone in a male body that doesn't FULLY identify as a woman cannot come, we see you and love you, but the woman's work we are doing would be disrupted if there was male energy in a male body (this extends to trans-men too). "

Is 'male energy' a euphenism for testosterone? Is this the spiritual equivalent of sport and testosterone levels? What if a detransitioned former transman (who may no longer have a vagina and might have a pseudopenis) wanted to go?...............

Although given the picture above his piece of wonderful prose, wearing a dress and having long hair might be enough to qualify as fully-identifying (and frankly would exclude me, since I have never looked anything like the long-haired,dress wearing solar worshippers depicted! Are you excluded if your dress self-ids as a robe though???).

Makes no sense whatsoever, apart from only lovely trans women (hence we assume not too much nasty male energy) need apply..................

I wonder how long it will take before the identifyers outweigh the women.

"No sneaking in of alcohol"
Crikey!

Is this not a bit creepy:

We also wish to include Woman’s daughters, who have passed their Menarche, to give them opportunity to grow into their Womanhood in a community such as this.

And am I the only one or is anyone else actually hurting at having to read this unfortunate, clunky, jarring style? (Sorry, I try not to wear my editor's hat when I'm not working but sometimes it just hurts too much)

DisturblinglyOrangeScrambleEgg · 12/04/2018 20:48

be disrupted if there was male energy in a male body (this extends to trans-men too).

Right, so.. Transwomen are female energy in a male body, and that's fine, but transmen are male energy in a female body, and that's no good....

Logic has flown the building.. I don't think I'd be welcome.. I'm in a distinctly female body, and I'm not a transman, but I've been told more than once that I'm a touch masculine - what with the boxers, STEM career, and assertiveness...

It's also great if you can bring a reusable bottle to use for water whilst on site.

PLEASE NO GLASS. Anyone bringing in glass will be asked to surrender it when arriving on site.

This is a weird one.. I guess because of breakages, but if you're looking for environmentally friendly drinking vessels, it's surely hard to beat glass!

KatVonSweet · 12/04/2018 22:58

I had to Google that weird menarche word.

Maybe glass takes the energy from people with holes. Goodness only knows. This is why wine would very much be needed.

KatVonSweet · 12/04/2018 22:59

Sorry. Non men

LassWiADelicateAir · 12/04/2018 23:07

I came across "menarche" on Ruth Rendell's novella Heartstones used by the very precious and malevolent teenage heroine.

I don't think I've ever heard it used in conversation.

The Women Fest sounds grim.

LangCleg · 12/04/2018 23:24

I first heard the word menarche in sociology A level!
