I mailed my local conservative, lib dem and Labour councillor candidates to ask if they agreed that women should expect that some facilities such as rape centres or open plan changing areas, will remain same sex as opposed to same gender. The Labour guy said

"Yes!"

The Labour guy is probably now going to be tried for Transphobia at his next CLP meeting.

Just an update

Labour: yes
Lib dem: respectful discussion.
Torys: waffle about supporting all rights. Avoiding the actual question

Btw, name change because the local polititains now have my name

Prepare for back tracking from the Labour guy. I was hounded off our local Labour Party forum for expressing the view that women should be allowed to have single sex facilities.

Interesting. Do the Labour and Libdem candidates have any idea that this is not in fact what their party stands for?

The Conservative candidate seems at least to be close to the current public party line on this...

I've just emailed my local councillors with the same question. Will let you know if I get any answers.

I observe that the Labour guy left limited electronic trail for his seniors to detect. That may or may not have been deliberate.

I doubt the lib dem guy would depart from the party line. I do not believe that he would never change his mind however. It's like...I can see a point that it would be lovely if there was no discrimination of anybody, and trans people can get a very raw deal today. I think the difference is that I see a much greater threat to women than he does ( from male abusers , not from trans people ) , and risk assessment is very subjective and my life experiences make me much more risk adverse in this area than others may be. I may rationally be too risk adverse, but it's my life and my body that is at risk and has suffered harm in the past

I'm going to ask my councillors the same.
