Opinions?

"Many thanks for your email. I am sorry for the delay in replying but it can take up to three weeks to reply to emails as we receive hundreds each day and have to deal with the most urgent first.

In relating to self identification, there are no firm plans yet to move towards this policy. Amber Rudd, who is the minister responsible is consulting on all options as she is aware this is a very sensitive area.

I sat on the select committee when this was discussed and we heard evidence surrounding the issues that the trans community face but we also heard from women who are concerned that a move to self identification could put women in a very vulnerable position.

This is why the Home Secretary is looking at the evidence in detail before any decisions are made. Your experience is very helpful in highlighting that this debate needs to be heard from all sides.

With all good wishes"

As Pilgrim Tucker says, it is a combined assault: firstly on the GRC process to bring in self-ID, secondly on the Equality Act exemptions, to widen sec segregation.

The truth is the GRA 2004 is no longer needed since gay marriage was legalised. One of the reasons transexual people dislike the transgender campaign is the fear that the backlash could actually make people wake up and realise this.

I give up. This is what it's supposed to say

As Pilgrim Tucker says, it is a combined assault: firstly on the GRC process to bring in self-ID, secondly on the Equality Act exemptions, to end sex segregation.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I will ask for the email to be forwarded to Amber Rudd.
I think a pp got it right about the fact that they just completely forgot about women in all of this in their rush to get brownie points for being pc. Being politicians they can't be seen to admit they are wrong or backtrack.

Got a letter back from my (Conservative) MP yesterday. Yes, we're listening, blah blah, fairly bland as expected.....but he knows me and that I'm not some radical militant type, so hopefully he will regard my views as fairly representative of his run of the mill constituents.

I feel better having done it. Looking forward to attending a WP meeting if/when there's one organised near me.
