TIMs reducing heath care opportunities for women

TheFootOfMyStairs · 17/03/2018 01:51

According to a nurse I know, NHS family planning/sexual health clinics for women in my area are now being separated into female and TIM clinics so reducing access to sexual heath for women as a result because the service is so stretched. But because they 'identify' as "women" the services for TIM's are allocated from women's services in the heath service budget.
The TIM clinic is apparently very busy and has lots of repeat clients in a sexual heath capacity rather than a family planning capacity. The nurse I know isn't surprised by this but she says it does increase waiting times for the women's clinic which is mostly about family planning.
This is wrong. Public funds - it's our money.

That's a good example to be able to raise with MPs. I wonder if you could do a FOI request to get it in writing that both services are funded from the same pot or do commissioning services make this information publicly available?

Exactly as predicted.

What area is this in OP? It’s the exact type of thing tha people will deny unless we can all definitively point to and say here, see?

Women at the back of the queue yet again.

Whilst I am prepared to believe this might happen, I think we need a few more facts here.

If we have facts and evidence, I would write to my MP about it.

If you could name the NHS trust, we could maybe make freedom of information requests to get the facts?

If transwomen are women, as they keep telling us, why are the services separate? And shouldn't the funds be allocated according to number of patients rather than number of appointments? How many transwomen are there in the area compared to women?

Funds should be allocated on a pro-rata basis - we're talking about 0.6% of population at most v 52% - focus on the maths
