Unisex clothing - discrimination against women?

I came across a clothing brand online that offers unisex clothing and 50% profits go to charity and raising awareness of MH issues

Someone's taken offence and saying they're discriminating against women as the clothing is actually men's but called unisex so women can wear and they should offer some fitted t shirts, leggings etc and are ignoring women's bodies

The clothing is - t-shirts, hoodies, wristbands and hats with a slogan on.

Thoughts?

That sounds genuinely unisex to me. Some people just love to look for things to take offence about. I almost always wear men's or unisex t-shirts and hoodies anyway as I very apple shaped so fitted doesn't suit me and women's tops tend to be too short for me too.

Yes I thought it was genuinely unisex tbh

Is not having fitted clothing really discrimination??

I know the brand you mean and I think the items are genuinely unisex. I'd wear them, and my adult children wear them (good quality clothing). Can't see the problem and I think someone's just stirring trouble.

Yes it did seem like someone taking offence where there really wasn't any to be found

I did wonder though whether "fitted" clothing really constitutes taking women's bodies into account?

I am convinced that some people switch on their phone first thing in the morning and go on an offence trawl.

if they were fitted then they wouldn't be unisex as they wouldn't be suitable for someone with a male body. the unisex part would be the straight cut, smaller than men's sizing and the print being not hypermasculine/feminine

unsurewhy · 14/03/2018 14:56

Yes the person offended said it's just men's clothes women can wear

Sounds like the person is making the mistake as seeing men as the default. Ie why Doesn’t she see them as women’s clothes that men can also wear?

I see the point. I can't wear most 'unisex' clothing as it's cut for someone with a straighter figure than me. Any hoodie that fits over my hips is absolutely massive in the shoulders - and I'm short, so it probably reaches mid-thigh as well.

There are lots of women who are taller than and differently shaped to me who could wear them without a problem. But 'unisex' is definitely not for the pear-shaped. Cut for a typically male figure, also fits some women. Calling it discrimination is a complete over-reaction, though. Not all clothes will fit everyone.

The brand... I really like what he's doing myself and think targeting this brand is unfair
