I posted a while ago about local clp meeting that had the "resolution of feminist death" that is doing the rounds.
We had the meeting this week and I spoke against it as did other people. The people who spoke for it did not address the issue of changing the law and the possible implication. That was picked up by people and some spoke to me afterwards and said how worried they are by change in the law and that people who spoke for self id had not understood what I was saying. There was an age range who spoke alongside me which was good. The resolution was carried with a large majority, but plenty of people voted against or abstained.
I was at the Women of the World festival today. The Fawcett Society had a stall so I asked what their position is on self id. There was a young man and a young woman sitting at the table. The young woman kind of withdrew and left him to answer (which really annoyed me but hey ho). He told me they have no police but are discussing next week at their team meeting. He told me they are talking to interested parties from both sides but there is no "organised" group from what he called the "radical feminists".
It is the case we are playing catch up, when you look at the power of GIRES and Mermaids which seem professional lobbying organisations.
He thought the Fawcett Society are likely to focus on the practicalities of self id rather than get into the "controversy".
So if you're in the Fawcett Society please email them to put forward the case for women.
(my weekends usually involve going to asda, seeing the mother in law and cleaning the bathroom - this one was an exception!)
