More Industrial Scale abuse of girls

Over a 1,00 girls abused over decades in Telford. Only a few abusers prosecuted. A girl and her mother burnt to death in a house fire by her abuser - who was not prosecuted for the abuse.Paltry sentences for abusers. makes me so angry - why do the authorities just not seem to care??

It was mentioned as a headline on Sky news review of Papers last night and then never discussed - they discussed the alleged Russian poisoning and some "fun" items. Not discussed on the Sunday politics shows either (Marr, Peston etc).

An earlier thread I started about this industrial abuse and trafficking of girls:

I'm beginning to wonder how prevalent this is. How many towns/cities have this happening under our noses? How many kids are being systematically abused?

What makes it even more frightening and sickening is what sort of society this must be to enable it to happen?

And no, of course it won't be high profile. After all, the victims were girls and women. And it's happened before. And they're probably all prostitutes now, so they don't count. And Russian poison is so much sexier. And who wants to hear about another case like this. And women should know their place.

Fuck.

That's shocking, I hadn't heard about this particular case but I'll look out for it.

I do believe that this kind of thing happens in most towns and cities in the UK, I know it's happened in my home town but as with this case it's very under the radar and it's seen as troublesome girls being led astray rather than mass abuse and torture of expendable girls and children.

I think it's just horrific, on IWD Sky news asked if feminism has gone too far, I think this is our answer.

The Mirror article is shallow and sensational. The photographs it uses are particularly unhelpful.

There are common factors between the numerous cases of organised female child abuse gangs dating back 20 years. The religion and ethnicity of the criminals, the refusal of police and councils to investigate for fear of being called racists, and then the blaming of victims and demeaning them as prostitutes. All utterly shameful.

I can't help but wonder how many more councils and police forces .... sorry, Services.. are aware of similar cases but are too frightened to do their jobs?

It's not entirely down to ethnicity. I have a friend who works in public health and liaises with the police on human trafficking - and in my neck of the woods (rural, mostly white county) it is a white-on-white crime, with girls being trafficked only as far as the next town - but still trafficking and rape on an industrial scale.

I think it is widespread. Who the perpetrators are depends not on race, but on who has the power/is seen as untouchable in any given community - so it could be one ethnic group, it could be the Saviles of this world, it could be rural families with a long history over the generations of incest, for whom female children are simply there to be used sexually, either within the family or as part of a gang trafficking prostitutes. The thing the perpetrators do have in common (barring a handful of women who collude) is that they are male.

I doubt there's a town/ community in the UK where this doesn't happen. Angry

I agree that this will fly under the radar in every town and city. Or rather the radar won’t pick it up. If girls (as in girls, not women) are walking the streets this will be known to police yet it carries on.
And I think the authorities being too scared to act for fear of being accused of racism is a cop out. Let’s face it the police aren’t exactly known for being pc. And there are plenty of vocal groups that would love another reason to attack non whites. But no, people consistently see women who have been raised in abuse as responsible.
The people I know who work with children and young people say it’s hardly a secret but there’s no one prepared to listen to them.

Bejazzled · 11/03/2018 17:18

I suspect it's happening a lot more that is reported.

There's an area in the outskirts of Glasgow where some people have tried to raise what they have seen (in terms of child prostitution) with their own eyes, but the thought is no one will touch it in case of accusations of racism.
